Jonathan Anderson’s Last Big Bag Launch for Loewe is Coming

Introducing the Loewe Madrid Bag...

Loewe Madrid Bag 1

Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe will be remembered for its innovative and beautiful approach to fashion. Over his 11-year tenure at the Spanish-founded Design House, he has simultaneously honed in on a distinct, new vision while paying homage to the brand’s iconic heritage and attention to quality and craft.

Anderson was able to balance newness with archival designs. While he helped put heritage brand signatures like the Flamenco and the Amazona back on the map, he also introduced a handful of new house icons. Today, Loewe introduces another new silhouette, one of the last big bag launches to come out of Anderson’s Loewe.

Introducing the Loewe Madrid Bag

First introduced on the runway for Spring 2025, the Madrid bag is a true representation of Anderson’s Loewe. Combining a bit of history with newness, the Madrid bag is an entirely new shape, yet it is also an ode to Loewe’s history, named after the brand’s home city.

Loewe was founded by Enrique Loewe Roessberg in 1846 in Madrid, and its ateliers are still based there today.

Crafted of supple calfskin, the Madrid bag is defined by a trapezoidal shape that offers a slouchy, supple appeal with a sturdy base. Pleated panels cinch closed with the bag’s tubular straps, further defining its shape.

A small gold-foiled LOEWE logo sits at the bottom center of the bag, while a jewel-like gold Anagram Pebble furthers the bag’s subtle branding. In true Loewe form, the bag leather has been specifically developed to exude shine while feeling incredibly soft.

Loewe’s leathers are truly unparalleled, and they also hold color incredibly well. If you’ve experienced Loewe’s leather IRL, you know what I mean, and this bag offers that same appeal.

The Madrid bag, which arrives in three sizes—small, medium, and large—is available in Black, Dark Burgundy, Olive, or Burnt Red and retails for $4,990, $5,600, and $6,600, respectively. Making its debut later this week, the bag will be available in select stores beginning this Thursday, April 3rd.

Wow!! It’s a small work of art. The leather, the lining, the handles or the pockets. The strap is versatile with three positions. I’m looking forward go to Casa Loewe to touch it.

Prices are on the rise across the board for sure!

How are these companies still raising prices when the luxury sector is doing so poorly. And most of the lack of sales are attributed to quality and price? Seems short sighted, once again, on their part.

Shopaholic

Not all luxury labels are doing poorly, and I think less people buying them in turn makes their brand seem more exclusive. The world is more expensive in general and life keeps going, so I don’t think they care about a handful of years doing not as well as in past years. Considering the economy, they’re probably still making good profits. After all, these are companies that are in business and will likely be in business longer than a human lifespan. As for quality, luxury isn’t synonymous with quality. There’s a plethora of companies that sell quality goods at affordable prices. What people truly want is the brand. Thats why there’s a billion dollar counterfeit market. Just my two cents.

Lisa

Luxury isn’t synonymous with quality? It certainly used to be. If that is going to be the attitude moving forward no wonder they are not taking steps in the right direction to rectify their shortcomings. People are now accepting inferior quality as the norm!! Not good!

Shopaholic

It sucks that quality isn’t the forefront of most luxury houses anymore, but those are the times we’re living in. They care more about profits. Cheaper quality means you need to buy more whether it’s the same item, or a new style since newer generations care more about trends. Hence, quality is currently bad for business.

Thanks to LVMH!!🤬🤬🤬🤬

But that’s not the case with this bag. It may be more expensive than others, but the quality is unbeatable, you just have to watch the videos of how it is done.

Shopaholic

For sure! I’m a huge Loewe fan. I personally don’t think the price is bad considering the quality of this luxury piece.

Heather

The bag in the photos doesn’t look like any of the colors mentioned. I’m confused by that and also whether they plan to sell it online. I got an email from Loewe announcing the bag which also said to check it out at select stores. There are relatively few Loewe boutiques in the US so I’m hoping it’s not a boutique exclusive.

Catherine

I can’t figure out if there’s a crossbody option with this beautiful design.
The olive and burgundy are stunning!
Will I pay full retail price for this?
Nope.

I like this

It is expensive but no more than any Dior or Chanel and the quality is immensely superior.
