I Finally Found the Best Pouches for Inside Your Bags (and Yes, I Made Them)

After 22 years of covering luxury handbags, I finally created the pouch I always wanted to carry inside mine.

I am laughing to myself as I write this because I realize the title is what the kids might call clickbait. Hopefully not ragebait, just clickbait.

Did I find the best pouches for inside your bags? I genuinely think I did. They also happen to be my new line, M + V Accessories.

So yes, I have a vested interest here.

But here’s the other truth: after spending more than 22 years in this industry, handling thousands upon thousands of luxury bags, I know when something isn’t just good, but truly great. I’ve touched enough leather, obsessed over enough hardware, and nitpicked enough details to know exactly what I wanted if I was ever going to make something of my own.

Ironically, it wasn’t a handbag. It was the thing that lived inside the handbag. For years, I was constantly moving little pouches from one bag to another. Medications, chargers, snacks for the kids, lip glosses, receipts I swore I’d deal with later…you know the drill. I wanted something that felt just as luxurious as the bag it was carried in. Something that didn’t feel like an afterthought. So I decided to make it myself.

Because these pouches are intentionally simple, every single detail had to earn its place. There was nowhere to hide. That meant obsessing over the materials until they felt exactly right.

The leather was easy in one sense: I knew I wanted Italian leather, but finding it wasn’t easy at all. I went through swatch after swatch after swatch, constantly asking for something softer, richer, better. The leathers I ultimately chose are the kind you immediately want to touch. The kind that smells like a new luxury bag when you first open the package. The kind that somehow feel like they’re melting into your hand.

Every color is actually a different premium Italian leather with its own personality. Some are buttery soft and slouchy, while others have more structure and a finer grain. You may end up choosing one simply because you prefer how it feels.

M+V Pouches Zippers
The zippers.

Then there was the zipper. I probably spent more time thinking about zippers than any reasonable person should. When you’re designing something this straightforward, the zipper matters. It had to glide smoothly, feel substantial in your hand, and never look flimsy. We went back and forth more times than I’d like to admit before I landed on custom Lampo zippers from Italy.

That was it. That was the finishing touch.

M + V Black Leather Pouches

I’m starting with black because, well…it’s black.

It’s classic. It goes with everything. It hides wear beautifully. And this leather is honestly one of the softest I’ve ever found. I’m talking about the kind of leather used by the biggest luxury houses. The kind fashion editors would probably describe as “quiet luxury,” even though I think we’ve all heard that phrase enough lately.

M+V Pouches Black

The black leather pouch comes in both small and large sizes with gold hardware. Inside, every pouch is lined in incredibly supple suede and finished with a leather tab and featuring our M + V heart logo.

I have such a soft spot for this leather. It reminds me of my Balenciaga Moto Jacket phase, when I was endlessly searching for that perfectly broken-in leather that somehow looked even better because it wasn’t pristine. I wanted that same feeling here—luxurious, lived-in, incredibly tactile.

And honestly, you can never go wrong with a black pouch. Or a black bag.

Sleepy Panda

Our bestseller from day one, and honestly, we’re getting very close to selling out, is Sleepy Panda.

M+V Pouches Panda

There’s actually a story behind his sleepy little face. The panda comes from a family tree drawing my brother made when he was little. That drawing still hangs at the end of the hallway in my parents’ house today, and every time I see it, I smile.

When I first started dreaming up this line, I knew I wanted the classics. But I also wanted something that made people grin. Luxury doesn’t always have to take itself so seriously. Sleepy Panda became that reminder for me. He’s playful, unexpected, and apparently, all of you agreed because you’ve made him our bestseller almost immediately.

Safe to say there are more fun characters and ideas already brewing.

The Suede Duo

Okay, I know I keep talking about the materials, but I can’t help it because they really are the entire reason these feel different.

Choosing the suede was really important to me, as a self-proclaimed suede lover. I had piles of swatches, and I just kept asking for better. Then these arrived.

M+V Pouches Suede
Small pouches in chestnut and pixie

This suede is silky. It’s smooth. It’s ridiculously luxurious. I actually wish I’d made both colors in the large size, too, because I’m completely obsessed with them.

Pixie is this muted blue-grey that somehow works with everything. It’s soft without disappearing. Then there’s Chestnut, which feels tailor-made for fall. Rich, warm, and beautiful enough that I wouldn’t think twice about carrying it on its own. Seriously, when you feel this suede, you’ll understand why I wouldn’t settle.

A Little Bit of the Rest

For this first collection, I intentionally kept things small. I wanted a thoughtful edit instead of launching twenty different colors and hoping something stuck.

M+V Pouches (5)
Large pouch in burgundy and small pouch in biscuit

Biscuit is what I’d call an elevated tan. This leather has a bit more structure than some of the others, with a polished finish that immediately feels quietly classic. It’s the one I can picture someone carrying straight to dinner as a simple clutch.

Then there’s Burgundy. I carried over the same rich burgundy from Sleepy Panda, but without the panda. The leather is thick, beautifully textured, and structured, yet still feels soft in your hand.

I’ve been carrying my large Burgundy Pouch for the past couple of weeks, and it’s quietly become the thing I reach for every morning without thinking. It’s easy to spot inside my bag, the color feels especially right heading into fall, and every time I zip it open, I’m reminded why I spent so much time obsessing over those details. It also comes in a small size.

What’s Coming?

Drop two is done!!!!, but honestly, my brain is thinking even further ahead.

I’m paying close attention to what all of you have told me so far, listening to your feedback, following my gut, and making the things I genuinely think you’ll love.

That’s been the fun part. Creating something instead of simply writing about what someone else created.

For now, I’d love it if you’d follow along with my newest adventure on social. Because apparently it’s 2026, and that’s something I’m supposed to ask people to do, even though I’m 42, and it still feels a little awkward for a grown woman to ask you to follow my Instagram account. But here I am, asking.

More than anything, though, thank you.

Thank you for supporting me through PurseBlog, the PurseForum, my Substack, and now this. So many of you have been here for years, some of you for decades, and launching something that’s entirely my own has been equal parts terrifying, exciting, and incredibly rewarding.

I truly can’t wait to show you what’s next!
