The Hermès 2025 Price Increase is Here

How much higher are the prices going this month?

Hermes Price Increase 2025

With the start of the new year also comes the annual price changes at Hermès.

These typically start with adjustments in Euro and UK pricing, along with a few other countries – this is done by metièr and can take at least a week for all departments to be adjusted – and the rest are rolled out over the course of the month of January. The new US prices just started appearing yesterday, January 6th, 2025.

From what we have seen so far, EU prices for quote and non-quota bags have generally increased around 4.5%, while the US market sees an average price increase of 7%.

See below for current price changes for US and Euro prices in 2025. Since information is still slowly trickling in, this article will be updated to reflect new information.

The most desirable Birkins and Kelly bags have increased across the board by 6-7% for 2025 in the US. Other non-quota bags have increased by as little as 3% but as much as 12% for the Garden Party 49.

The 25cm Birkin in Togo leather has increased in price by 6.1% year-over-year.

While both the US and European markets are affected by price increases for 2025, the European picture doesn’t look quite as bleak. European Birkin and Kelly prices only rose by roughly 4%, making shopping in European boutiques more attractive to American shoppers.

Perhaps it is in the consumers’ best interest to develop relationships with their European sales associates in the hopes of scoring access to some of the most desired quota bags Hermès has to offer. This is especially true considering new import taxes looming this year on European luxury imports to the US.

Historical Context of Hermès Price Increases

Since 2020, Hermès has implemented annual price adjustments, with varying percentages each year. In 2020 and 2021, price increases were minimal, with some items remaining at the same price or experiencing slight adjustments.

In 2022, Hermès began more noticeable price increases, citing higher production costs and currency fluctuations as primary reasons.

The trend continued in 2023, with price hikes ranging from 5% to 10% across various products. For example, the Birkin 30cm in Togo leather increased from $11,600 in 2023 to $12,500 in 2024, reflecting a 7.7% rise.

In 2024, Hermès implemented price increases earlier than usual, with the U.S. market experiencing hikes across various product categories. Leather goods saw increases ranging from about 3% to 15%, with many hovering in the 6-7% range. For instance, the Kelly 25 Togo Retourne rose from $10,900 to $11,300, a 3.7% increase.

Reasons for the continued price increases

The steady price increases by Hermès since 2020 can be attributed to a combination of economic factors and strategic brand positioning. Rising production costs, driven by inflation and the increasing price of high-quality raw materials, have significantly contributed to the adjustments.

Hermès prides itself on exceptional craftsmanship, and maintaining this standard requires continual investment in skilled artisans and rare materials, both of which have become more expensive.

Additionally, currency fluctuations, particularly between the euro and the U.S. dollar, have played a role in pricing strategies across different markets.

Beyond economic factors, Hermès leverages price increases as a way to reinforce its image as a symbol of exclusivity and desirability. By limiting production and subtly raising prices, the brand ensures its products remain aspirational and scarce, aligning with the luxury market’s emphasis on rarity and prestige.

These combined factors ensure Hermès’ ability to preserve the integrity of its products while sustaining its reputation as a leader in the luxury goods industry.

It’s amusing how people think trash-talking Hermès will make a dent in their legacy. The exclusivity and allure of the brand are exactly what keeps true luxury shoppers coming back. Honestly, the more outrage I see, the more I appreciate Hermès for staying true to their roots. Let’s be real—complaints only fuel the desire for those who value luxury. The exclusivity, the waitlists, the prestige—it’s all part of the charm. Keep ranting; we’ll keep buying, and Hermès will keep thriving.

Yeah… it’s called savvy MARKETING. Selling you a bag for $10,000 when it costs $100 to manufacture. 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, I love my Kellys (not a B girl here) but it’s all smoke and mirrors.

Bag-Idiocracy

Haven’t you heard? Hermès dosen’t have a marketing department (quoted from Mr. Dumas himself, on a recent 60 Minutes interview) and here’s another article on how they don’t spend money on marketing:

Try harder if you’re trying to “trash talk” Hermès. This attempt is amusing at best.

Kathy

So thankful that these are not my holy grail bags. Between the price and the hoops to acquire, I’m out–and frankly, not impressed.

Laura

It’s like begging someone to take your money!! I’ve never been interested in those bags…

I was a seasoned shopper, who purchased from Hermes, for over 10 years, but no more. I enjoyed purchasing scarves, twillies, ties, shoes and various bags due to their quality and excellent craftsmanship. Additionally, I was “offered a Birkin or Kelly”, every year, but not for the past 2 years. I asked my S.A. the reason and their policy is they “want everyone to support the brand”. Really? I said I should be grandfathered in, but now I “have to prove my loyalty and have a purchase history that restarts every year”. That means I have to buy stuff I don’t want need/want in oder to “be offered a Birkin or Kelly”? Also, she said Hermes is “opening up their bags to new clients” which means the ones who have supported the brand are no longer important? In the whole scheme of things I recognize it’s only leather goods, but ppl should be able to buy only what they want. If Chanel, for ex,, made clients buy SLG’s, scarves, sunglasses, etc. before being “offered” a bag would they have as many clientele? No. Hermes marketing strategy is ridiculous & self serving, but it’s also brilliant. They dangle a carrot in front of consumers noses & pretend to offer something if someone plays their game. Also, Hermes doesn’t care if customers, like me, no longer shop with them because when one person exits ten, or more, will take their place. They were founded in 1837 so they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I am laughing at the prices. The price increases make me certainly not want one.

The comment feed on this post is amusing. If you’re so disgusted by Hermes, (1) why are you reading this article and (2) why do you feel so compelled to take the energy to comment? It’s weird.

After the Walmart Birkin debacle, it’s hard to take Hermes seriously.

Kat B.

I don’t understand the Walmart Birkin stuff. It’s just another Birkin knockoff in a sea of Birkin knockoffs. It’s not a particularly impressive one, either. It is obvious at a quick glance that the “Wirkin” is not a Hermes bag, and no serious person would try to pass it off as one. I think Hermes has very little to worry about from the Walmart dupe.

Tracy

What was that about? I hadn’t heard.

Becky

lol, Oh no, I think I missed that one! I’ve struggled to take them seriously after they decided on their “we’ll only sell to a few people” sales practice, and then did the pearl clutching when people turned to resale to get their Hermes fix. You can’t be that stupid. It’s not allowed.

Charlotte

I’m a 35 year veteran Hermes customer and am honing my collection. I stopped buying when the games went into full force……or should I say farce??

Kas

Farce. Definitely. I just got a new Bolide resale route for 2,500$. Beautiful and totally worth it. Not going back to the store…

Anon

Everyone seems to have a Birkin or a Firkin these days – they aren’t that special. Also, who can be bothered with the game of buying jewellery, belts, shoes for thousands before you are “offered” a “quota” bag?

Sandy

I have never been interested in playing games and purchasing things I do not really want for the privilege of giving thousands of dollars for a bag. Nope! There are so many beautiful bags out there offered by brands that appreciate their customers.

Very informative post. Thanks for posting

Actually sales may be down in the So Cal area due to the fires. More important things to buy. Also, think of the loss of a lot of high end bags in the area. 🙁

I didn’t see any US price increases for shoes or silks when I looked this morning but gold fine jewelry jumped. I know bags did as well but don’t recall what before prices for the bags that were shown this morning to be able to compare.

Ex: Rose gold Kelly bracelet in small went from $9700 to $9950. Very Small Farandole earrings went from $1500 to $1725.

Miamimi

These prices are don’t look correct. The 2024 retail price for a Constance 18 is $10,600

Vlad Dusil

The price depends on the leather. The Chevre Constance is more expensive than the cheaper Epsom version.

Passerine

Is the Jypsiere now offered only in the mini size? thanks!

Vlad Dusil

No, it is offered in larger sizes. We only included the Mini in the pricing chart.

If I’m honest with myself I won’t say that if I had the money that I wouldn’t purchase from them. I would give it allotp of thought first because I’m not amused with the”by invitation only” policy to me it leaves a taste of racism in my mouth and yes weather people can be racist against the poor, but let’s be real people with tall money like the exclusivity, it’s like being in some type of secret society where only the créme de la créme are allowed. I’m not mad at it though we all like special attention, and don’t say you don’t. The way I see it it’s their money if that’s how they choose to spend it, bravo. Could that money be donated to help someone, just one person, less fortunate, sure, but whereas some people help others to make themselves feel good others buy bags. Life is short do what makes you happy, whatever that is. Hermes is not concerned. If people stopped buying today they will be ok. It’s called generational wealth.

My husband gave me my one Birkin for my birthday a few years ago and, realistically it will be my last. It was fun going into a private room and being given champagne and chocolate and watching the SA unbox it. Glad I had the experience. I felt very fancy. But then my husband started working for a start-up and took a huge pay cut – maybe it will pay dividends eventually, maybe not, but he’s been having a blast – and I just don’t have the budget or the lifestyle to maintain the sort of relationship with Hermes that will result in my ever being offered another one. I appreciate the one I have and am grateful for it. Compared to the price increases at Chanel – which comprises most of my handbag collection- the increases at Hermes don’t seem offensive. I’m priced out of the classics at Chanel, though I’ve bought a few seasonal bags here and there that are fun, but I was never going to be buying another Birkin or a Kelly, anyway, so it’s nothing lost or gained for me. For what it’s worth, the quality of construction and materials at Hermes really is impressive, and the experience of buying a Birkin or Kelly does feel like a “luxury experience.” In my limited experience with Hermes, which may have changed in more recent years (I have no idea), it did feel like they had more regard for their customers than some other luxury brands. I didn’t feel that vague sense of contempt I sometimes witnessed elsewhere.
