It’s that time again! I love when the days start to get a bit longer, the days just a bit warmer, and the new colors of spring/summer start arriving in the shops. I had such a great response to my color articles from 2021, I am making this a regular seasonal article, with tweaks as needed (I just looked at my fall article and am impressed with your patience with me…that was really long!).
How it works: I pretty much spend all year keeping an eye out for what’s coming next; of course, as always, I’m going to say that PurseBlog is the best resource, but I’m happy to give you Cliff’s Notes version (or, rather, Pink’s Notes) so that it’s all in one place and you don’t have to wade through it all. Other information I obtain from my own personal interactions with the brand, close friends, social media – I’m always on the lookout. I build my lists of new and returning colors for leather goods and SLGs; it’s intended to be as comprehensive as possible, although there are always some surprises.
Then, because I started out buying scarves and I know a lot of you buy them as well to coordinate (or to, ahem, build up your pre-spend), I take a look at the color families being offered in the silks and cashmeres and then give you some ideas for the season. I’m still working on the best way to do this; clearly, Hermès is still doing color families, but I feel that they are phasing out the names and just using them as a guideline. Family names are no longer on the website, and the actual range of colors used in each family seems a lot broader than in past seasons. Therefore, this season I have loosely grouped the scarves by similar dominant colors and then coordinated with the leathers. You will see all of this information in part II of this article, coming soon!
What also struck me this season was that the scarf colorways really incorporated older, currently retired colors. For example, I saw a lot of Jaune Ambre in the scarves, yet I have not seen that color offered recently.
So, let’s jump in!
What Is New and What Is Returning
These are the new leather colors for this season, as many of you probably already know:
NOTE: The leather type referenced in each swatch refers to the leather photographed, and does not reflect the type of leather the color will be available in this season.
Returning colors for this season include:
The range of colors I have seen offered recently, and for the current season, including the above:
No need to get out your magnifying glass – I’ll break it down for you!
The Purples-Pinks
The Bright Pink-Reds
The Browns & Tans
The Yellows
The Greens
The Blues
And finally, the Neutrals
Check out part II of this article, which coordinates leather colors with the scarves and cashmeres of the season!
Shout out to Purseblog staff for updating the site’s logo with the Ukrainian flag. Fashion is and has always been political. Fashion can be a tool for justice.
Then why won’t they address how they remain quiet or do the absolute least to hold ra cist forum members accountable.not to mention the glaring racism in the Virgil posts that people keep using “creative disagreements” as a way to spout their casual rac ism.
Ah yesss… it’s the same… children being bombed by an autocrat vs someone saying they don’t like Virgil Abloh’s designs for Louis Vuitton. 🙄🙄🙄
Yes, calling him ape equals no liking his designs . It’s not racist at all /s
Some of you have no tact and it’s absolutely disgusting.
So we gotta stop the fight in US for racial equity because there’s a war with Ukraine and Russia? How disgusting of you
I think Vlad edited all the comments that were racist. Are you suggesting that there is a comment equating VA to an “ape” still published? That would be inappropriate obviously. None of us endorse that.
But I don’t see anything wrong with someone saying they don’t like the aesthetic of a brand or designer. Aren’t we allowed to have an opinion about fashion? Isn’t that what’s fun? The discussion, the debate… that’s why we all come here.
And calling people “disgusting” or “racist” in every post you write doesn’t promote healthy conversations and cultural growth. If you don’t treat people with respect, they won’t respect you back.
You are being ridiculously aggressive. Not everyone is your enemy. Somehow you feel entitled to comment on my post—which was celebrating something wonderful the Purseblog staff did—and immediately accuse everyone of being racist. We can all work for peace in Ukraine AND racial equity at the same time. You may not realize but those two things are not mutually exclusive.
Hi Molly, I try my best to sanitize problematic comments on PurseBlog and have deleted offensive comments on articles showcasing Virgil’s past collections. There may be some that slip through and I unintentionally miss them; I will find a way to give readers the ability to flag offensive comments. It would aid us in keeping the comment section civil, decent and free from offensive, harmful, and racist remarks.
Virgil was a genius! The world of fashion has lost a legend. May he Rest In Peace.
I appreciate your efforts to delete offensive comments. However, there are frequently debates, like the one above, that take away from these posts. The first several comments were difficult to read because they were personal & aggressive. I understand & empathize with the issues discussed, but sometimes it’s nice to have a reprieve from the hotly charged political & racist debates. For a moment I forgot that this post was about the new Hermes colors once I got to the comment section. Anyway, I appreciate the hard work that you, Megs and your staff do & I enjoy reading the articles posted.
I love how that member chalks up racism to “not liking his designs”. Says a lot about the current demographic.
“That member.” 🤣
Youre forgetting that the victims of racism don’t look like Ukrainians!!
Clearly there is a heirachy of those who deserve sympathy and concern!
Just look at the likes on the above comment, and look at the likes on your comment!
Tells the whole picture!
Are we surprised? That member purposely misconstrued what I said to make me seem like the bad guy here.
How disgusting.
I always look forward to these guides ❤️ Im such a nerd.. i do extensive research before parting with my hard earned money to hermes haha so that i wont have any regrets with my choices..thank you so much for this article
I’m truly glad that you enjoy them!
I always look forward to Hermes color articles. Thank you for putting this together! STILL waiting for other shades of blue to return though haha
Not a nerd, just a well informed shopper. Hermes prices are exorbitant and it’s subjective re: if they are worth it, but for myself they are! I love my Birkin’s and Kelly’s!
Thank you ❤️ When i first researched about my first hermes bag (evelyne tpm) i didnt even know there were seasonal colors. The seller told me about it and i felt so ashamed so that is why i try to read more and more articles about hermes colors terms process. I love reading and i enjoy them a lot makes me feel like im back in school haha prepping for a big exam.
Thank you for the thoughtful article! I’m so in love with Beton but I’ve only seen it in the Calvi pouch recently….
I have seen some Beton – hopefully more will be available as the season continues.
I’ve been trying to track down a Constance in béton alligator.
My SA says that there will be a lot more colors coming soon
I’m wondering how to get a Birkin at the age of 16. Any thoughts on the items that I can buy at Hermès that will get me to it faster?
I recommend fine jewelry, RTW, and scarves. Throw in some footwear, fashion jewelry and SLGs.
Is Cassis the new Raisin? They look very similar. Also, I purchased a Hermes Birkin 25 Ostrich in Gris Perle and it’s not as “purple” as the color shown here. It’s more of a Crae/Gris color. Is the lighting here making it appear more purple than it is?
Hermès leathers are notoriously difficult to photograph. I can pull ten swatches of the same color and they will all look just a bit different. The lighting makes a huge difference – fluorescent, incandescent, outdoor, etc. When I put these articles together, I try to use the swatch that looks most representative of the color – especially if I know the color reasonably well. If you think it’s not a good representation of the color, I would be thrilled if you would sent me a photo of your bag so I could create a swatch from it. 🙂
Oh, yes! I know how difficult it is to capture Hermes colors. My camera doesn’t pick up their true beauty! I was commenting about the Gris Perle color because the one you posted looks more beautiful than mine.
I apologize if I’m belaboring the point, but I saw the Gris Perle 25 Ostrich Birkin in the 1st photo of “The Best Bags of Paris Fashion Week Fall 2022: Day 6” and that photo captures the color of my bag best. 😊
PURPLE? I HAVE A RIGIDE 28 KELLY IN THIS COLOR AND TO ME THE SAMPLES LOOK SPOT ON. AM I MISSING SOMETHING? Thanks input please.
WELL, SINCE WE’RE SHOUTING 😂 DO YOU PREFER THE WORD “LAVENDER”? IDK, IT APPEARS TO BE IN THE PURPLE FAMILY, BUT MINE, RECENTLY PURCHASED, DOESN’T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THIS ONE.
Why are you shouting? 🤣
Blue Atoll!! Fantastic article. Dying to see scarves that coordinate with these colors.
I love bleu atoll! I wish it came in Porosus crocodile.
That’s the fun part!!!
if it helps your data base, I got a new Evelyne TPM in the color Terre Battue (orange like Roland Garros tennis court). I am surprised not to see it mentioned anywhere.
Thank you!!! I havent seen Terre Battue for a while! 🌸
I bought my mom a Kelly in terre battue ostrich.
I’m sad vert de gris did not return
It’s above in the neutrals
Is the buffalo leather gone forever? I have a preloved bag with this leather and love it.
Unfortunately, I havent seen Buffalo for a few years.
I’m hunting down a B25 In Buffalo Dalmatian.
Which style is the orange bag in the photo?
It’s the Geta bag.
yes its a cracker!
I already own one
Thank you for the thoughtful article!
Is Graphite offered in 2022? I’m seeing Singapore resellers offering U stamp Graphite Birkin…
