Chloe goes minimal for Fall 2010

If you’ll think back with me to the mid-2000s, to a time when Chloé was releasing Paddingtons with giant bedazzled locks and people were snapping them up left and right, it might seem odd that Chloé Fall 2010 is so…minimalist. Spare, even. But in the past five years, as economic and social conditions have changed across the globe, so have tastes. Many critics are hailing this collection and those like it as the antidote to “It Bag” fatigue.

But if these bags become widely popular, are they not still It Bags, just repackaged to fit current trends? That’s probably a question that fashion marketing pros hope you won’t ask, but either way, a return to classic shapes and colors will likely be welcomed by many. Me? I’m a little bored. We have bigger photos after the jump – let us know what you think.

I love this Treesje bag and you can’t stop me

Sometimes, you see something and you just know.

That’s what happened when I spotted the Treesje Crimson Crossbody Bag at Intermix a few weeks ago. I was perusing some pretty patterned dresses when I lifted my eyes to a back shelf and BAM. There it was. I had to go touch it.

I’m still not exactly sure what about this bag in particular makes it so appealing to me. Studs have been done nearly to death by more or less all of my favorite bag designers, but for some reason, this crossbody makes me love the look all over again.

Want it Wednesday: Balenciaga S/S08 Bag Envy

I have mostly all kinds of Balenciaga envy right now. And the bag that I am currently not only super envious of but also feeling like I absolutely must track one down myself is a floral Balenciaga bag from S/S08. Seriously, could this bag pair together a more luscious green with the right amount of an oversized floral pattern?

The image was pointed out to me on Twitter and was taken by AJ Mukamal, you know, the other star of Kell on Earth. I’m a big AJ fan, a big Balenciaga fan, and now all I want this Wednesday is this exact Balenciaga bag.

Nancy Gonzalez does colored python correctly

When you get down to the details, it’s no surprise that Nancy Gonzalez‘s bags are so successful. First, the brand keeps costs down by sourcing most materials from its own farms, which means that Gonzalez’s crocodile and python bags are among the most well-priced exotics in the mass-market luxury business. Second, Gonzalez & Co. let the rare materials take center stage, as you can see so well in the Nancy Gonzalez Python Satchel.

Multicolored python can become cheap-looking very quickly if the designer doesn’t take care to maintain the integrity of the skin’s natural pattern, but the blue and cream combination that we see here only enhances the python’s inherent beauty.

Anya Hindmarch creates a chic alternative to the Chanel Classic Flap

I know very few people who genuinely dislike the Chanel Classic Flap. I know a few who dislike it’s ubiquity or its price, but those who find the design itself distasteful are few and far between. Luckily for all but that small minority, the Anya Hindmarch Roslyn Flap Clutch captures a lot of what is great about the iconic Chanel design without a few of the negatives.

Nothing will truly replace a Chanel Classic Flap in the minds of Chanel fans, but for the rest of us, this bag is, at the very least, a suitable alternative. It retains the flap shape, turnlock closure and chain handle while still coming across as a bit slouchier and softer than the original. This is a flap bag with a style and price point for a slightly younger customer.

My Balenciaga Color Saga continues: Murier

Moving to NYC will ensure an easy in-person shopping experience for just about every item I want to check out. It doesn’t mean I will stop online shopping (hello, what are late sleepless nights for), but I will have the fashion world at my finger tips. Don’t get me wrong, South Florida is filled with amazing shopping, like our hangout Bal Harbour Shops, but we all know it is not the same as NYC.

I desperately need a Balenciaga store next to me because their colors are haunting me. I can not seem to find the perfect color and much of that is because I am not seeing the bags in person. You all followed my recent Balenciaga purchase and return. The color Seigle just didn’t do it for me. And now my hunt continues.

I am not hitting the checkout button just yet, but I am really digging the Balenciaga Giant City in Murier.

Alexander Wang welcomes a new color, Mustard

If it didn’t look absolutely ridiculous, I would have titled this thread, Alexander Wang welcomes a new color that is similar to a color you welcome when changing the diaper of a new baby”. Let me preface this by saying that I actually love hues of yellow and even a mustard color when done right. But mustard is really really tricky to perfect, and if you are one hue too dark it starts to look like… well, you know what I mean.
