Do you Do Suede? Miu Miu gives us a reason to

Suede, I have a serious love hate relationship with you. The soft texture always lures me in and completely reminds me of fall and winter. And I am a girl who truly loves fall and winter. But then there is the problem with upkeep and cleaning. Because of its texture and open pores, suede both gets dirty and absorbs liquids quickly and easily. A darker suede color like brown is a good choice, since it will not show wear or dirt as quickly as lighter suede colors. And because I have a thing for chocolate (the food and color), this Miu Miu bag is calling my name.

I rarely find myself drawn to chocolate brown bags, but the Miu Miu Horn-Strap Suede Tote is worth a gander.

Tell us what you think: Christian Louboutin Marianna Rider Fur Tote

Yesterday Amanda asked you all if you think Christian Louboutin should stick to shoes. I personally do not think he needs to, he has released some amazing bags. The problem is that some other bags have been not so amazing, bordering on downright confusing. I understand the spunky design of many Christian Louboutin shoes. Call me safe, but when it comes to making a bold and quirky design, a pair of shoes is a better fit.

Proenza Schouler PS1 in Scarlet and Grey

Right now there are a few things I know for certain: 1) Vlad and I just spent a week in the middle of nowhere Ohio for a family reunion with zero internet access. It was both delightful and frightful, 2) I am still obsessed with the Proenza Schouler PS1, and 3) Amanda is going to be really mad to see this post with an Ohio State logo.

You see, Amanda and I are always going back and forth about college football teams. She is an alumnus of THE University of Georgia while Vlad and I are alumni of THE Ohio State University. And we all love college football. A lot. Which brings me to this post. Right when I saw Net-A-Porter stock scarlet and grey colors of Proenza Schouler bags I jumped for joy. Why thank you NAP for not only knowing my college colors but also putting them on your site together on the same day! I appreciate it greatly.

Should Christian Louboutin stick to shoes?

Christian Louboutin has been far more successful with shoes than he has been with bags, and I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly why that is. Surely the design processes for each is decidedly differently, but for a brand with as many resources and as much style as Louboutin’s, I would expect better results.

Most of CL’s shoes have an inherent feminine sass to them that just doesn’t come through in designs like the Christian Louboutin Trophe Stud Bag. Louboutin has designed many a gorgeous shoe featuring zippers and studs, but his bag design with the same motif just doesn’t work exactly like it should.

Diane Von Furstenberg’s box clutches are chic on a budget

A evening bag is hard to find, and it’s even harder to find at a reasonable price. Most people won’t use a tiny clutch multiple times a day like they might use a shoulder bag or tote, so spending big bucks for a glittery little minaudiere usually isn’t a particularly palatable option. Bottega Veneta’s knot clutches and Alexander McQueen’s skull clutches may be totally covetable (not to mention collectable), but the prices for both start in the four figures and climb steadily from there.

If the thought of spending that much makes you uncomfortable but you’d still like a similar bag (or maybe several), then Diane Von Furstenberg’s recently launched line of box clutches is perfect for you. Prices vary depending on size, but this oh-so-current version of the Diane Von Furstenberg Lytton Minaudiere rings up at a very reasonable $300.

If I had a baby, I’d pick this Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag

I’ve been on a casual search for the perfect baby bag for the past few months, despite the fact that I don’t have any babies and I don’t anticipate having any for quite a while (and possibly ever). I’m not sure why this particular segment of the market has me so curious, except for the fact that it seems like it has only recently been recognized by many designers.

After dozens of baby bags and enough paisley print to make me a little swimmy in the head, I finally found a diaper bag that speaks to me. No surprises here: the all-black Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Eliz-a-Baby Nylon Bag is what I’d reach for if I found myself in a family way.

Botkier debuts new Ava styles for fall

We always try to be fair and impartial about every bag that crosses our metaphorical desks, but all of the writers here at PurseBlog are still human. That means that every season, we each have collections to which we look forward with more anticipation than others, and one of mine is Botkier.

Monica & Co. make great bags (not to mention that they’ve been game enough to collaborate with our readers on a custom design), so when the company announced via Twitter yesterday that its fall collection had made it’s online debut, I couldn’t wait to see what the new season held. I wasn’t disappointed – I need a Botkier Ava Crossbody Bag immediately, if not sooner.

Name that Bag! Kelly Rowland

I’m always a tad bit embarrassed when I can’t identify a bag. I spend 40-plus hours a week contemplating purses, and at a certain point, I feel like I’ve seen almost every handbag that the fashion world has to offer. Just when I get comfortable in that feeling, some handbag always comes along to knock … Read more

Tory Burch hits yet another design out of the park

With every season, Tory Burch‘s handbag collection just keeps getting better. She’s managed to master the sleek, uptown-casual feel that we’ve all been wishing Kate Spade would figure out for years, and she continues to do it at a surprisingly reasonable price point.

Burch’s latest release is just as good as the recent past would indicate – the Tory Burch Norah Glazed Femme Satchel is simple and functional, but it doesn’t lack distinct personality or a heaping helping of style. Whoever is designing accessories for Burch deserves a raise.
