I know very few people who genuinely dislike the Chanel Classic Flap. I know a few who dislike it’s ubiquity or its price, but those who find the design itself distasteful are few and far between. Luckily for all but that small minority, the Anya Hindmarch Roslyn Flap Clutch captures a lot of what is great about the iconic Chanel design without a few of the negatives.
Nothing will truly replace a Chanel Classic Flap in the minds of Chanel fans, but for the rest of us, this bag is, at the very least, a suitable alternative. It retains the flap shape, turnlock closure and chain handle while still coming across as a bit slouchier and softer than the original. This is a flap bag with a style and price point for a slightly younger customer.
Call me crazy, but I like the thicker, chewier pintucked leather a little bit better than the rough, structured caviar that you see on most Chanel flaps. I also like the deep red color, which will look gorgeous next to the browns and greys of fall trends. This may not be a bag that will eventually pass down to your daughter or granddaughter, but it’s certainly a nice alternative to spending a couple grand. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $495.
