This Under-$600 Bag Looked So Luxe I Had to Ask Who Made It

It's so good.

It’s not often that I look at a bag and immediately clock it as something other than fast fashion—yet still struggle to identify the brand. At the very least, I’m usually able to spot a marker or two that helps me make an educated guess about who might have made it.

So when I saw a bag on the arm of a woman walking ahead of me in my Lower East Side neighborhood that gave off a quiet, luxurious appeal—but that I couldn’t identify—I immediately wanted to know what it was. She was walking fast, clearly on a mission, but luckily her mission aligned with mine, and we both popped into a coffee shop on Ludlow Street.

“Thank you! I just got it in Paris!” the chic stranger exclaimed. She went on to tell me it was by a brand called RSVP Paris. Not only did I have an immediate flashback to walking past its boutique in the Marais, but I also remembered that we had covered the brand many years ago.

Why RSVP Paris Is Still a Brand to Watch

In 2018, we dubbed RSVP Paris an emerging brand to watch. Now, eight years later, the brand is still going strong—and it’s time we gave it another look. Unlike other brands on that 2018 list, many of which have undergone massive growth and global expansion, RSVP Paris still sells exclusively through its website and two stores: its Le Marais boutique and another location in Seoul.

RSVP’s leather bags are crafted in France and Italy, depending on the model, and over the last decade, the brand has honed its craft, working only with top-tier artisans and suppliers. The proof is truly in the bags—I had to restrain myself from examining the kind stranger’s Parachute tote.

The Parachute Tote: Form Meets Function

The Parachute bag is RSVP Paris’s answer to the cool-girl, daily haul-all. Its oversized body is perfect for grab-and-go ease, yet the silhouette still feels refined and chic. Its key design elements blend sleek minimalism with RSVP’s signature attention to craftsmanship and detail. Designed with function in mind, the bag features two exterior pockets and one interior pocket.

I first spotted this bag in leather, but I’m especially drawn to the small chocolate suede version that’s currently available for pre-order. The smaller size comes in under $600 at $595, while the medium retails for $655. Of course, buying in Paris is always a bit more affordable, with euro pricing coming in about €50 less—plus you’d get the VAT back (immediately adding a stop to my itinerary for next time).

While the Parachute bag is what reignited my interest, the brand also offers a range of other silhouettes worth exploring. Discover more via RSVP Paris.

Nice bag although its shape reminds me of Tod’s T Timeless shopping bag.

Cherchez le Tom Ford

Correct, totally derivative.

I’ll take these over YSL version. If smaller, they could also take some shine away from Picotin as well (especially you can’t even get Picotin at will). However, even the small is too big for my frame…

So… I went to their site and ordered not one but two, from their Milkman and Golden Eyes lines! I really like how clean most their designs are.

Thank you for introducing some of these off-the radar brands. I have since purchased one from Sézane and now from RSVP thanks to your articles. I like how these brands are incognito and of good taste. I carry them to theaters, school meetings etc. feeling appropriate.
