Every August, New Yorkers and tennis fans from all over flock to Flushing Meadows Corona Park for the US Open. If you’re unfamiliar with the park, speak to any native New Yorker, especially those with familial roots in Queens like myself, and it’s likely they’ve spent a lot of time there.
The city’s fourth-largest park, it was home to the World’s Fair (in 1939 and 1964), as well as the iconic Shea Stadium, the now-demolished former home of the New York Mets. Still, Flushing Meadows Corona Park gets the most attention every year in August, when the world of professional tennis converges on Queens.
The US Open, which runs through mid-September, kicked off earlier this week, and we’re here for the tennis fits, the Honey Deuces, and the designer bags. There is a way to go where tennis is concerned, but the designer bag game is in full swing, and we’re kicking it off with a bit of Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Coach and more!
