Matt & Nat Hendrix Zipper Crossbody Bag

Matt & NatYou know, I’ve become spoiled. Vlad takes such amazing pictures when he works on Shutterbags that I’ve turned into an image snob. Well, I don’t want to say I am too snobby, but sometimes I look at these stock images that huge retail stores offer and I feel a bit sad. Some of these images just don’t do the bag the justice that it deserves. Case in point, this Matt & Nat Hendrix Zipper Crossbody Bag.

I actually had the chance to see this bag in person when I stopped into a Bloomie’s the other day and it looks so much better in person than in these pictures. So, if you are ready to dismiss it, I’d say, don’t do that… not quite yet.

Brahmin Melboune Tote

I’ve spent the past two days in LA meeting with all sorts of fabulous people in the fashion world. I had a chance to meet with the Lockheart team yesterday and was overwhelmed by their friendliness and openness. As we sat and chatted we couldn’t help but talk about the hot colors out there and one color that kept coming up was a deep yellow, almost maize or marigold color. So on the heels of that conversation I had to stop and take note of the Brahmin Melbourne Tote.

Donna Karan Chaos Leather Messenger Bag

Donna Karan Chaos Leather Messenger Bag

I kind of love this bag, and I fear I may be the only one.

The Donna Karan Chaos Leather Messenger Bag is not something I’d normally embrace. First, I hardly ever like any of the bags from Karan’s eponymous line. Second, I usually hate multicolored bags. Third, this bag really shouldn’t work. But for some reason, it kind of does.

Kooba Juliet Hobo

Bags like the Kooba Juliet Hobo are always ones that I’ve thought the brand does particularly well: medium-sized, functional, casual shoulder bags won’t immediately look dated or make everyone think you’re a fashion victim. They’re the sort of bags that a variety of women can appreciate.

And that being said, I’m not sure why we’ve seen so few of these types of things from Kooba lately. I can understand wanting to advance your brand identity and innovate your offerings, but they do bags like this so well.

Gucci Jungle Large Tote

I’ve had a particular proclivity for Gucci python for quite a while now; the skins that they use always seem to look more plump and luxurious than most other brands. I’m not sure if it’s because the skins themselves or better or because the way they treat them results in a better final product, but their snakeskin bags are almost always highly textured and soft-looking.

Which is why I’m kind of disappointed in the Gucci Jungle Large Tote. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an attractive bag, but I hold Gucci python to such a high standard that I’m having trouble getting excited.

MCM Notte Large Leather Hobo

MCM (Mode Creation Munich) is making a comeback. The renowned European luxury brand has taken major strides recently in the accessories market. Our take on it all: Bravo. We are really digging what MCM is doing. Quality, luxury, and craftsmanship goes a long way in a handbag. Best part is the price point for most … Read more

Lanvin Dice Charm Key Ring

Lanvin Dice Charm Key RingAs luxury shoppers, we grapple regularly with decisions of how much we’re willing to pay and what we’re willing to pay for. $2000 for a leather bag? Maybe. $2000 for python? Seems more reasonable. $2000 for canvas? Not unless it’s Louis Vuitton and you’re already a huge fan of the brand.

But everyone’s shopping agenda is clearly relative to their income and lifestyle, and being comfortable and happy with one’s own purchases should be the chief goal. A “reasonable” price means something different for everyone.

That being said, I’m sure someone out there has purchased the Lanvin Dice Charm Key Ring at some point in the past, but for the $380 asking price, I’m not sure how anyone could be satisfied with what they’re getting for their money.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Into The Wild Standard Supply Mabel Tote

Marc by Marc Jacobs In to the Wild Standard Supply Mabel Tote

I have a deep and abiding appreciation for a silly handbag moment. Life isn’t always serious, and there’s room in my wardrobe (and, I suspect, in most people’s) for something fun and maybe a bit over the top.

Luckily for us, when there are bags like the Marc by Marc Jacobs Into The Wild Standard Supply Mabel Tote on the market, a fun bag doesn’t have to break the bank.
