When I recently wrote about Prada’s knitted leather clutches, two things were noticeably missing from the brand’s website: the same material rendered as a tote and my favorite color scheme from the Fall 2010 show. Luckily, both have surfaced in the form of the Prada Knit Nappa Tote.

I still love this bag just as much as I did on the runway, and the knit technique is so much fun to look at that I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these bags in person. The only thing that I find disappointing is the price: $4500 is a lot for any bag, particularly one with a very season-specific design that might look dated quickly. The all-black version would likely age more gracefully, if you’re so inclined, and this bag will surely turn heads when cold weather arrives. Larger photo after the jump. Buy through Saks for $4500.

Nice, but the price is seriously dissapointing. I wouldn’t pay more then $1,700.

Amanda, I’m in love with Prada’s knit clutches & totes! Let us know when the price drops! ;-)

  • kemilia

I know me, I would some how snag it on something and spend the rest of my life (for $4500, it is going to be with me forever) poking the snag back in with a chopstick or something.

Amanda, I think you need it in the red and black…go Dawgs!

    • This would be the perfect gameday bag, if only I had a luxury box…GO DAWGS!

I am still not convinced. I didn’t like the clutches, and I have even more dislike for the tote. It looks old and dated to me. The tote doesn’t have that vintage yet modern look.

    for 4500$?! I will pass!

  • louch

Ouch! $4500 is A LOT of money for a one off bag. I would only spend that on an investment piece – this is not one of those.

  • 19yearslater

I love the tote as well, and this color scheme is perfect. Still, I’m not in a position to spend that much money on any bag; let alone a trendy one.

    no..i still dont like it..

  • Lola

    My grandma’s bag. Seriously!

  • labellover81

I think the fact that it’s knit by hand contributes to the price. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to knit with leather yarn.

  • ela

    looks cheap sorry.

  • Brittany

I would like to see it IRL. in photos it looks like one of those inexpensive straw or raffia bags. BUT! im guessing its a whole other story in real life.

  • Brandy

It does have kind of a dated look to the shape. I like the idea of knitted leather but I think it would be better in smaller amounts and not all over. The clutch was by far better but I do agree with Amanda on this being my favorite color scheme.

  • Sher77

DVF does the Stephanie Hobo in the knitted leather. I think she may have a couple of other bags styles in the knitted leather. These are really pretty bags at a better price. The leather is knitted tight.

  • Toni

Sorry, not loving it. Looks like something my grandma would have knitted. And $4500? OUCH!
Better be spun out of gold for that price!

  • Claire

It looks a little too Etsy ish for me. Esp at that price.

  • Linda
