The Neverfull has spent nearly two decades earning its reputation as one of the world’s most recognizable luxury totes. It’s practical, lightweight, endlessly versatile, and, for Louis Vuitton standards, has traditionally remained one of the House’s more accessible handbags.
That’s what makes the new Nevereverfull Cargo (see what they did with the name there) such an interesting launch. Retailing for $3,800, it pushes the iconic tote into an entirely new price category while introducing an oversized silhouette and cargo-inspired detailing that gives the classic Neverfull an entirely different personality.
The question isn’t whether it’s bigger. It’s whether the additional features justify paying roughly 70% more than a traditional Neverfull.
The Neverfull Gets a Cargo-Inspired Makeover
At first glance, there’s no mistaking the Nevereverfull Cargo as part of the Neverfull family, but it definitely has a different personality. Just as the name suggests, this version of the bag is utilitarian with exterior pockets of different sizes to help store different items, and because of its size and the additional storage, the name was updated to Nevereverfull.
Crafted from Monogram Archive coated canvas with classic cowhide leather trim, the Nevereverfull Cargo measures an oversized 23.6 inches across, making it even more spacious than the traditional Neverfull. While the interior offers only a zip pocket along the back, the overall compartment can be closed with a zip which solves the problem of not having your items you are lugging around falling out or being taken. It’s probably my favorite update to the design itself.
The biggest aesthetic, visual difference comes from the exterior. Two puffed snap pockets on the front are joined by a full-length zip pocket. You have storage of different sizes now on the exterior, which is far more easily accessible.
Long shoulder straps make it easy to carry despite its larger size, and the overall design feels less like an everyday throw-it-all-in tote and more like a luxury travel companion. While the Neverfull itself is really just a large open bag, these updates make this bag feel far more functional.
How Much Does the New Neverfull Cargo Cost?
| Bag | Price |
|---|---|
| Neverfull PM | $2,160 |
| Neverfull MM | $2,240 |
| Neverfull GM | $2,310 |
| Nevereverfull Cargo | $3,800 |
The simple math of the bag is as follows:
- $1,560 more than the MM
- $1,490 more than the GM
- roughly 65–70% higher, depending on size.
Is It Still a Neverfull?
The original Neverfull became famous for being uncomplicated. Lightweight, open, easy. And with all of our very busy lives, going to and from, the Neverfull garnered so much attention that other brands followed with similar shapes that became cornerstones of their brands as well.
While Louis Vuitton has updated its Neverfull countless times, reinventing it in leather, and different versions, this one is quite substancial. The exterior with its classic LV Monogram print feels familiar, but the exterior pockets and the zip top closure is major for this family of bags.
At the end of the day, whether that’s an improvement depends entirely on the shopper. Is this what you are looking for or do you prefer something more simple?
My Ending Thoughts
At this stage in my handbag journey, I want something different. I want a bag that not only works for me but also feels like its fresh and new. Oddly enough, in my 22 years of running PurseBlog, I have never owned a Louis Vuitton Neverfull. I wound up opting for other brands with similar shaped designs, but overall prefer a bag that has a bit more functionality.
That makes it seem like this version could be for me, and what that comes down to is if you like this bag. Do you love the shape of the Neverfull but wanted more functionality? And does this price seem worth the additions?

No, nearly 4K for coated canvas is crazy
egregious
Do I like it? Yes! Will I buy it? No! At least not brand new. Also, there’s a typo: substancial —> substantial.
