Few bags have made me as nostalgic as Louis Vuitton‘s many revivals. From Murakami’s chapters one, two, and three, to the return of Miroir Monogram and more, LV has made it feel like the 2000s all over. When LV Remix came out, followed by Monogram denim’s return earlier this season, I felt like I was in middle school all over again.
Denim, a true wardrobe staple at this point, always brings me back to my earliest days of loving bags, when they were just a dream. While I love to quote my Dior Saddle Bag as my very first designer bag, really, it was Coach that started it all for me.
Nostalgia for the One That Started It All
In seventh grade, I begged for a Coach Monogrammed C Wristlet—of course, and when I finally convinced my mom to buy me one, I wore it every single day. That is, until my brother bought me an actual Coach Bag for Christmas.
It was a Monogram C Pink pochette with a buckle closure, and I was so excited to return to school with it after winter break. Still, I remember the bag I wanted more—a limited-edition patchwork denim bag I saw in the Macy’s Christmas editorial catalog.
I let my mom convince me that a classic C bag was a better choice, and while I loved the bag I got, I would occasionally think about that denim bag. Every once in a while, I still do! I’ve never been able to successfully find a picture of it (at least how I remember it in my head), but when I saw Coach’s denim patchwork bags, I felt that familiar pang of nostalgia.
The Coach Tabby continues to be a fan favorite. I’ve returned to it time and time again, and in Patchwork Quilted Denim, it feels both modern and nostalgic, catapulting me back over two decades.
Do you remember the Coach Denim Bags from the early aughts? Which bags give you that instant nostalgic feel?
