The New 2025 The Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami Collection

The dynamic duo reunites with a new collection launching in 2025...

Louis Vuitton Takashi Murakami Collection 2025

Louis Vuitton released its first collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami in 2003, at a time when designer/artist collaborations weren’t commonplace in the way that they are today.

Still, Louis Vuitton has long since been accustomed to sharing its design process with someone else, and since its inception the brand has worked on various capsule collections and partnerships.

Many consider the brand to be the pioneer of modern collaboration. One of its most-loved partnerships of all time is its past collaborations with Murakami. The duo’s first collection debuted on the brand’s spring 2003 runway under Marc Jacobs’s creative direction.

At the time, the pair’s complete re-imagination of the brand’s iconic LV logo was unprecedented. The Japanese contemporary artist revived the logo in a bold, colorful rainbow palette. The bright hues sat atop either white or black-coated canvas. They were an instantaneous hit, and that collection would spawn a prolific partnership.

Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami would continue their artful collaboration for years to come, releasing a slew of limited-edition prints that fans were eager to get their hands on (and many remain coveted items to this day). Other popular collections included the Cherry Blossom Collection and the Cerises Collection.

Louis Vuitton x Murakami 2025: The Details

Now, over twenty years after its original debut collection, the pair are reuniting once again, and fans are going wild.

Rumors of the duo pairing up once again began swirling over the summer on social media and on tPF, with fans eager to learn more. In early fall, more leaks popped up online, and it seemed that the rumors really were true; we’d be getting an LV x Murakami collection in 2025.

The Takashi Murakami Collection is now officially unveiled on LouisVuitton.com with details on styles and prices.

Slated to be released starting in January 2025, the Murakami Collection will see a return of beloved icons like the Monogram Multicolor. Later, in March, we will see drops of the Panda motif and the Cherry Blossom. Mid-2025 will see a final release of the Cherry Collection.

Monogram Multicolor

Multicolore pieces were some of the first images to leak online, as well as pop art pieces with bold graphics—Murakmi’s signature. The Monogram Multicolor bags will be the first to be shipped to clients in mid-January.

Information on Pre-Orders and Wishlists

According to the latest information posted in the busy LV X Murakami thread on TPF, pre-orders have been halted worldwide as of this morning (December 4, 2024).

A sales associate shared with a customer that pre-orders have been halted due to a flood of preorders made by non-VICs (Very Important Clients).

However, shoppers are still able to submit their wishlists to their sales associates.

This collection brings back so many cherished memories!

Raquelle

I am so hyped for this Murakami and Louis Vuitton to be partnering once again. The Multicolore, the Cerises, and the Cherry Blossoms are timeless and bring back so many wonderful memories me. They are what drew me into loving fashion and becoming obsessed with Louis Vuitton specifically.

Georgina

The flower Capucines, WOW

Fabuleux

This article is incorrect. The first reinterpretation of the monogram was the collaboration with Director/Designer Robert Wilson in 2002.

Robert

Loud and (questionably) wrong:

If you think if the monogram as just the LV, which is what Robert Wilson did, then you need to consider the black V within a square with the 3 colored triangles that Kim Jones revived during his tenure because that had been in the archives for at least a hundred years when he did it and you also need to consider the Twist Lock that Nicholas keeps using because that’s also from the archives and there was some controversy regarding if LV even had the legal rights to use it after it’s original run around 50(?) years ago.

If you’re talking about an third party artist doing something with the logo Stephen Sprouse did it a year earlier with the Graffiti.

And if you’re talking about the actual monogram canvas then the first is undeniably Takashipom with the Multicolore

Hervé

What you refer as the “V” is simply Gaston Vuitton’s signature. It’s not a version on the LV monogram.

Bella

y’all are getting me worked up and anxious and I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Can we please all take a deep breath? This is meant to be fun 😂

Laura W

How did he reinterpret the monogram? He used colour and leather contrasting lines and fluro? Where did he do anything to the monogram pattern?

Fabuleux

Robert Wilson was the first collaborator to be allowed to change the LV monogram, which he completely reshaped. What you describe as “contrasting lines” spells LV. But maybe you didn’t notice.

Let's Treat Each Other With Respect, Shall We?

Maybe you didn’t notice, Fabuleux, but she’s referencing the S/S 2003 Vernis Fluo line by Robert Wilson. The handbags feature contrasting patent accents. If you’re going to be pretentious, at least make sure you’re right!

Raquelle

Seriously. There was no reinterpretation of the monogram canvas at all with Robert Wilson.

Fabuleux

I never said “monogram canvas.” I said monogram. Y’all are really struggling today. LMAO.

Frodo

Accuracy seems to be unimportant around here Fab.

Wow! This release – like the newsprint Dior Saddle and colourful Fendi Baguettes – is totally aimed at folks like me who were too young and too broke to afford it the first time around. 😆

But even now, I see why I never fell in love hard enough with the first Murakami collab to get anything pre-loved. While I enjoy fun and whimsical designs, I also like my bags to have a clean look. All the hardware corners, studs, and ribbons did nothing for me the first time around – and still don’t.

Ironically, while I wasn’t expecting to – I appreciated the Black Multicolore monogram with the black leather and silver hardware more than I thought I would. YMMV but this iteration helps the bag to look sleeker and has an effect on making the colours pop.

My favourite rendition of this, in fact, is on the Nice Mini – it really makes what was meant to be a makeup case look wowza, and I can totally see myself carrying that out.

jiljenner

I agree on Noir: to me, it looks much better with black leather. The vachetta on the original editions, specifically against the black MC, was jarring upon its release and now looks dated (to me, to ME, TO ME). I think this iteration will age, and wear, much better.

Adelylt

Yes, I feel the same about the vachetta on black dating the piece.

I have tried a few times in the past to see if I could score a pre-loved piece from the Murakami Eye series. But as much as I loved the whimsical print, the vachetta and all the extra frills always kept me from pulling the trigger.

Victoria

I’m glad to see the revival of this collab, but sad to see all of the SHW on the Noir pieces. I’m glad I still have pieces from the original collab launch, including my Monogramouflage Speedy.

Pandal

So exciting to see all these lovely, happy flowers and colors again only in new different styles! I love Takashi Murakami and I still have my Black Multicolored Eye Love You, the beautiful Cherry Blossom Retro bag and the White Multicolored Trouville bags from the 2003 Murakami LV collaboration and I still love them all! Can’t wait to add to my collection!

Cheryl

I’d be interested in the Neverfull. I wonder what size it’ll come out in and the price?

Sandy

Me too! I like it the best!

Brad

Only MM mate

Brad

$2960 US

Cheryl

That’s $930 more than the Damier Ebene or the Monogram, which I know aren’t artists renditions. Now, I’ll have to determine if it’s worth it. 🤷‍♀️

Ali Ashby

They know they can command so much due to the nostalgia of this collection. It sucks!

Lindsay

I wonder if original pieces will become even more collectable?
There isn’t a ‘bucket bag’ on the above list, so maybe no longer popular?
I still have my original black multicolored petit noe & matching zippy purse & absolutely love them. 💓

Momin4inch

Can’t believe my White Multicolore Speedy is 20 years old! Mine is in prestine condition still, although I had to replace the front pocket on it. The red lining blead through and ruined the canvas. Apparently a known problem, but I still had to pay for the repair myself 🤔. They sent it to Paris and it took forever.
However, I think I still prefer my own bag compared to the new styles. I have always wanted a black version though, we shall see…
Always lived the Multicolore😍.

Miranda

I totally agree with you. I appreciate those new collections but still I like first collection. However, my Keepall45 in white got so yellow and seems like common issue. I took it to LV and presented it to my SA but sadly nothing they can fix it……. So I wonder if those new white colour won’t cause the same issue in over the time. You just can’t ignore it……

sohomama

Gorgeous bags!! This collection is in my top 5 favorite LV bags. =)

Dan

I heard through the grapevine that there will be additional releases after the first release – can anyone confirm? Hoping they also release a re-do the Murakami Monogramouflage line!

Raquelle

Monogramouflage is not in the works as of yet from what I hear. Only Murakami Multicolore in January, Murakami Sakura/Cherry Blossom in February, and Murakami Cerises in March.

Brad

Not in February mate. Both will be release in” March “ and in addition no Monogramouflage at this moment.
in addition Pre-order will start from very very “ SOON” 😆
If anyone want to buy any of those upcoming collections for re-sale then just think very very carefully. You may only possible to make some good profit for only rare piece and you can not ask for stupid price. 😂

Hervé

There are 130+ bags, SLGs, and accessories being released in multiple waves. I have not seen anything Monogramouflage yet.

Ali Ashby

I haven’t purchased designer this whole year, but I’ll be saving for that nano speedy!! So excited and the bow detail is everything. I wish it was the smaller monogram, but I love the launch.

Sam

The key pouch & toiletry pouch! 🔥

Mayank Bhatter

The collection is now on the LV French website.

Miranda

Can’t find it though……..

John

Sadly this will not reach the general public.

Simone H

Pre-ordered on Monday and yesterday they closed the list.

Brad

Preorder has already started so I suggest you to make contact with your local LV store
Cheers 🍻

Raquelle

Why? Because the price?

Gretchen

I’m looking forward to seeing the Sakura and Cerises options. So far not 100% in love with what is shown so far, but there’s always the next releases!

Frodo

The Side Trunk is an MM, not a PM. Copying screenshots from Instagram isn’t a good way to research an article.

Vlad Dusil

Are you referring to the mention of the Side Trunk in the price list?

Frodo

The price list that was just copied from this Instagram screenshot and not even corrected for the proper spelling of Coussin, yes: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/2025-murakami-collection.1069376/page-25#post-36189030

Michelle

Do you have anything better to do?

Frodo

Not really, nor do you it seems. But I would expect the authors of articles at least do a minimum review before posting, though they’ve fixed the spelling error at least.

Laura W

Cut and paste from instagram yet put a link for a purseblog forum? Sorry to inform you that you are making your rude and tactless snipes on a purseblog page talking about something from a purseblog page. I mean, thats just embarrassing. At least you have made it abundantly clear that manners appear non existent in your world.

Frodo

The link was to the Instagram post that the author copied from so that you could see the author simply copied from it… spelling errors and all.

Eliz

Does anyone know if the Speedy will be a bandouliere?

Eliz

Disregard-I see it now.
