The start of fall inevitably means that winter is on the horizon. Cooler weather and the end-of-year months mean many things: an endless supply of sweets, cozying up to the fireplace with a good book, snow days, decking the halls, and more.
For fashion lovers, it means one thing: winter collections are coming, and with them, a bevy of new bags sure to excite them. We begin this year with Louis Vuitton’s LV Ski 2024, which once again offers an array of goods to wear both on and off the mountain.
Louis Vuitton Ski Style
The good news is you don’t have to actually ski to get the look. Technical wear aside, there are a variety of pieces to wear this season. The latest installment of LV Ski captures the distinct air that cozy season brings, elevating it to offer a stylish allure that only Maison Vuitton could.
This season, the collection is defined by metallic details and finishes, and of course, shearling is back. The soft, cozy texture appears on a range of silhouettes like the Speedy Bandoulière, the Hills Pochette, Bumbag and more.

The show-stopping pieces are dressed in metallic LV Monogram. That’s right, Miroir Monogram returns, drawing inspiration from archival pieces. It is seen on an array of silhouettes from the Alma GM and the Speedy B to the Loop bag and more.
Crafted from monogram embossed coated canvas, the new Miroir monogram uses a technique different from the past, which previously utilized embossed vinyl. The new Monogram Miroir effect is inspired by Maison’s metal trunks, which date back to 1892. The new designs put a retro-yet-futuristic spin on a classic design aesthetic from the archives.

I guess I will NEVER undestand why anyone is willing to pay big bucks for coated canvas. Absolutely regardless of brand or design
They have been worth it for me so far. All my LV coated canvas pieces have been indestructible and lightweight. They are also easy to style with, with their versatile looks. I love them all.
To be fair, the canvas was created way back in Louis Vuitton’s trunk making days in order to create something more durable (and harder to counterfeit) for trunks, granted it wasn’t plastic & cotton canvas as it is today, but its more about durability and longevity than anything. I have a Keepall 45 monogram from 1983 and its still going strong. In fact the zipper was broken (and LV still replaced it!) before any of the canvas was damaged. So while yes, it isn’t the most sexy sounding material, I am certainly getting my MONEYS WORTH from this bag. I am actually more concerned about getting the leather handles and details wet HA!
Absurd thinking, most LV bags in that collection also have high quality hardware and leather handles, backed by LV’s exceptional customer service and support. There’s a reason why these bags last for decades on average if not longer, which can’t be said for Coach or Michael Kors for that matter.
I now invest in brands that offer lifetime care rather than just ‘leather’. Or is it in the current style. I fell in love with this concept when an H bag of my grandmother’s was passed down to me. Finally I understood the long game on these items. Materials of course are part of it, but so is how the brand will help in care further into the future.
I appreciate being able to carry a light weight bag and briefcase especially when going out of town for business. Some of us can’t scale down that much and having a recognizable luxury brand allows you to fit in almost everywhere when dining in restaurants, hotels etc.
I just pulled out my old LV Alma from 1985. Paid about $350 at Saks. I made payments for a year, hid them from my husband! It was my first designer bag and can still be carried today. My Rebecca Minkoff and various other leather brands I carried before I went all designer are all gone. And I’m sure mostly because of the state they were in.
i’m pretty sure that kind of question is similiar like “Why anyone willing to pay big bucks for leather bag” while there’s a lot of leather bag that cost less. the main answer? people just love it and don’t really care about spending money on it.
It’s a material developed to be very long lasting and very low maintenance. I have dozens of Louis Vuitton SLGs, bags, and luggage pieces in various canvases (monogram, damier, eclipse, etc) and they look as good as the day I bought them. Also, resale value of monogram canvas bags is excellent if someone likes to buy and sell regularly as a way to update their collection. I also own delightful leather pieces from LV and other brands but nothing compares to LV’s canvas as an easy and dependable material. There is a reason it’s been around and imitated for almost two centuries. 😜
I own a 92 Alma and she’s my perennial fall bag. Holds everything and looks great doing it!
The only thong that ages is the leather bit I love that! It gets more beautiful with age!
Let me tell you about resale value in Japan. People used to make fare profits. But now LV has been making so many bags and price has gone crazy. There are so many bags and clothes available at resale shop as well as online auction but no one buying and only foreigners buy stuff. In addition I know few places in Tokyo and Osaka where you can LV Monogram bags for under $20 US!!! Of course they are not perfect condition but no values. However if you have vintage show collection bags in perfect condition then you may have chance to make good outcome. In addition, Prada. YSL, Botega V, MiuMiu, Chanel are the same also.
Yes, I am well aware. But I don’t live in Japan and resale value in the US is through the roof. I have sold LV monogram bags for more $$$ than I bought them 15 years ago.
May I ask where? I am going to Tokyo and Osaka. Thank you!
Because it’s indestructible, super hard wearing, wipes clean no problem and very low maintenance that’s why
Might be true, but the margin they take on these products are huge…
So? That’s called business. All luxury goods are sold at extremely high margins. No one is dumb enough to think any of these bags actually cost that much in materials and labor.
Obviously they are sold with margins. Just some brands take higher margins then others. And some work with beautiful leathers. Regarding the canvas there is nothing luxurious about LV coated plastic… They pay 17 euros / meter for this material FYI.
Canvas isn’t plastic. The COATING is PVC, NOT the cotton canvas! Are you saying if you cut open a Monogram bag the inside is plastic?! Secondly, they NEVER publicly disclose their material rates, so either you’re lying or grossly misinformed. But it should be quite easy for you to provide this evidence, right?
No matter how much you try to poop on Louis Vuitton, people love it and it’s one of the most coveted luxury brands in the world. 🤷🏻♂️
Playing devil’s advocate…Hermes wants us to think the price of their Birkin’s are “worth it” for the alleged 40 hours it takes to make each bag. However, as Chanel keeps dramatically increasing their prices, edging closer to Hermes prices, maybe Hermes prices are worth it; however, also recognizing that this is a very subjective analysis.
Hermès charges outrageous prices that aren’t related to the factual value of their products, even the Birkin (which I own in three sizes and colors). I love the bags but I also know well that what I’m paying for is, in part, the fancy location of its retail stores and the prestigious advertising. Are my Birkins good quality? Yes. Are they “worth” that much money? Absolutely no… except if you are willing to pay premium for the privilege to buy and wear Hermès. In other words, I choose to buy Hermès bags because I can… but I know they’re vastly overpriced. As for Chanel, I am not a Chanel girl but I respect those who love the brand and choose to spend their money there. Who cares? Some people buy fancy cars, others collect sport memorabilia, and some of us like certain handbags. Shrouds have no pockets: I won’t take my money with me when I am dead. Better enjoy it now.
I was disappointed to see it wasn’t the Sprouse Roses or Graffiti line or the Murakami Multicolored line making a comeback.
Murakami collaboration is coming in 2025 as well as make up collection so wait and see 😃
I love the Murakami Multicolored line so much!
I bought the Speedy Miroir in silver when it launched. I believe it was 2006/07.
It was dead expensive. I paid equivalent to USD 650 for it😂.
Today I see people demand everything from USD 3.000 to 10.000 for the same bag. It’s ridiculous. The bag is in vinyl, except the little LV tag inside which is in leather. The bag is nice, but not worth those kind of prices.
From what I can see from the new launch the embossed logos seem nicer and deeper on the original, and the shine is prettier.
Sadly mine has only been carried once, but it is in imacculate condition.
I probably should sell it.
I would have preferred that they brought the Murakami back in stead. I suspect the prices would be extortionate.
Carry that bag!!!
crazy question…does anyone know if the feet/studs on the bottom of the new silver Alma are embossed with the LV logo?
