The 13 Best Celebrity Bag Looks of Summer 2017

See what Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, and PB staffers preferred this season

While the gang at PB HQ enjoys their annual summer break, let’s look back on the past few months and highlight the best of celeb summer bag picks. Pickings were by no means slim this year, and the It Bags of the season weren’t as well telegraphed as they have been in summers past. Accent trends are shifting, up and coming labels are breaking through, and even classic fashion houses like Chanel came up with something new for the summer. There’s something for everyone to love, and even something you could conceivably carry well through next summer. Enjoy!

Céline Dion

We’ll start with the queen of Summer 2017, Céline Dion. In the past few months, Céline has embraced her role as one of haute couture’s most public, popular patrons. She has given us many bags to choose from, what with her numerous, high-profile exits from the Royal Monceau in Paris, but we love this Gucci Sylvie Bag the most. Shop the Gucci Sylvie Bag via Gucci ($2,250)

Gigi Hadid

Prada is positioning the Prada Etiquette Bag as its next big It Bag, and you know what? We’ll bite. Megs gave you your first look at this new style back in June. We love the flat studs and angular lines. Shop the Prada Etiquette Bag via Neiman Marcus ($2,280)

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid had multiple winners on her arm this summer. This tiny top-handled bag from Stalvey is made of all-American alligator. That’s kind of Stalvey’s bag. (No pun intended.) Shop the Stalvey Top Handle 2.0 Bag via Moda Operandi ($4,800)

Hilary Duff

Studs barely went away, but there already seems to be a new wave of studded bags lapping over celeb tastes. Several celebs are partial to the Valentino Rolling Rockstud Shoulder Bag. Shop the Valentino Rolling Rockstud Bag via Neiman Marcus ($3,495)

Jada Pinkett Smith

And because Hermès Birkins never go out of fashion, here’s Jada Pinkett Smith, carrying one of the best Birkins from her personal collections: a glossy black croc version.

Kourtney Kardashian

When you name a style something as summer-ey as “Palm Springs,” you’re setting expectations high. But celebs couldn’t get enough of the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Backpack this summer, in all of its many iterations. Shop the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Backpack via Louis Vuitton ($2,080)

Naomi Watts

The Fendi Kan I Bag was definitely one of our favorites this summer, and Naomi Watts seems to feel the same way. This floral Fendi Kan I is particularly lovely, but maybe a bit too frou-frou for some. Shop the Fendi Kan I Bag via Neiman Marcus ($3,250)

Nicky Hilton

Once again, studs aren’t dead…they’re just becoming a lot less faceted. This Valentino Rockstud Spikes Bag is evocative of several classic styles, and if it gets Nicky Hilton‘s approval, it certainly gets ours. Shop the Valentino Rockstud Spikes Bag via Neiman Marcus ($3,195)

Penelope Cruz

The Chanel Gabrielle Backpack is Chanel’s attempt to entice a slightly younger, slightly less fiscally sound crowd. The jury’s still out on how successful that marketing effort will be, but this new Chanel style certainly scored a few high-profile celeb fans this summer. Shop Chanel via Vestiaire Collective

Rihanna

Rihanna loved her hot-off-the-runway Dior Saddle Bag this summer. And we mean literally all summer long.

Rocky Barnes

I am extremely partial to this architectural Cult Gaia Ark Bag. It looks hyper modern, yet strangely timeless. You’ll be able to return to it summer after summer, so long as you don’t crush it under a pile of wedge sandals. Shop the Cult Gaia Ark Bag via Moda Operandi ($150)

Sienna Miller

If you think we’re over Proenza Schouler Bucket Bags, think again. This reinvented “Hex” style has won our affections once again. And Sienna Miller‘s. She’s been carrying the Hex consistently for the last month. Shop the Proenza Schouler Hex Bucket Bag via Net-a-Porter ($1,495)

Zoe Kravitz

File under Too Fantastically Weird Not To Include: The Row Ascot Bag. A work of fabric art or something that just looks a bit like a hobo’s sack? I’ll let you decide. Shop The Row Ascot Bag via Net-a-Porter ($990)
