Proenza Schouler PS1 Sea Blue

You can throw virtual tomatoes at your screen right now. Why would I show you images and ramble on about a bag that is sold out? Well, it is gorgeous. And while it is unfair to anyone who wants to buy this bag, I would like you to cross your fingers and hope Net A Porter will re-stock this color of the PS1.

The Proenza Schouler PS1 continues to garner attention, being loved for its casual chic and everyday wearable vibe. The only difference we can start to see is in the material and colors being produced. That is the same thing we look forward to from other brands like Balenciaga, that continue to release the exact same design just in new colors each season. Proenza Schouler has been implementing the same idea as Balenciaga, producing a bag that is highly loved in new colors. We love this idea; creating a classic and only re-inventing the colors. The color of choice today is sea-blue.

Botkier Michelle Satchel: Benefitting Oxfam International

I absolutely LOVE when I hear about designers who give back. While I was checking out Shopbop I came across this bag. Honestly, I looked at the bag first and when I figured I liked it a bit, I glanced over at the name of the bag only to find out that there is a greater purpose with this bag.

The Botkier Michelle Satchel was designed by Michelle Trachtenberg and Monica Botkier. Michelle a celeb, and Monica a designer have come together to create this bag and donate 50% of the proceeds to Oxfam International, a group of non-governmental organizations working to fight poverty and injustice. Ok, but back to the bag…

Proenza Schouler PS11

The duo behind Proenza Schouler, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, just finished their Fall/Winter 2010 show in New York City Fashion Week. They joined many other designers in live-streaming their show, which was crisp, brought us close-up views, with the only downside being that it started 26 minutes behind schedule.

What did Proenza Schouler have in store for us from their Fall/Winter 2010 collection? We saw graffiti high waist skinny jeans, which were created in collaboration with J Brand. The toggle coats are sensational, completely wearable and calling out to everyone who was at the show. The color palette was dark and lustrous with touches of blues. Dimension was added with fur.

Cole Haan Raleigh Whipstitched Hobo

The leather on Cole Haan bags is divine, simply divine.

Now, when we are talking about Cole Haan handbags, for the most part, they aren’t over-the-top, but they are still lovely. There is something about the way the leather hugs, wraps and kisses the shape of each bag that always seems to work.

Halston Heritage Night Suede Shoulder Bag

This bag is certainly not one you see everyday. There is something unique and noteworthy about the Halston Heritage Night Suede Shoulder Bag.

Clearly, you have to be the kind of person who likes small shoulder bags. My concern with small shoulder bags like this is that with the wrong outfit or on the wrong body type, the bag gets lost and just seems completely awkward. However, with the bright citrus-orange suede, it will certainly be hard not to notice it.

Lanvin Pouchette Python Small Shoulder Bag

I am undoubtedly a Lanvin fan. However, the thing about that is that while I do love Lanvin handbags, I don’t necessarily always go out looking for a new Lanvin bag. The great thing is, they always seem to come to me. When I least expect it, a fabulous bag pops up and takes my breath away.

This is essentially what happened when I came across the Lanvin Pouchette Python Small Shoulder Bag. Admittedly, the first thing that caught my eye was the multicolored pompom. In fact, the pompom brought a smile and induced a bit of a giggle. I haven’t seen a pompom in so long and I actually loved the fun and flirty take on the otherwise high school-esque item. But, that is just one element; this bag is so much more.

Burberry Knotted Leather Hobo

Looky looky! A gorgeous, workable, elegant, leather hobo from Burberry. Oh, and the price is manageable for a leather bag. Can I tell you how much this excites me? I adore the Burberry ad campaigns and love the way Burberry has been on top of social media. And now to have a bag that I love equally only furthers my growing obsession with the brand.

The Burberry Knotted Leather Hobo is the bag in focus right now with a large comfortable shoulder strap and buttery soft leather with a knotted front design. The inside of course has the classic and iconic check lining, which is always a preppy cool touch.

Prada Spazzolato Tote

After viewing Prada’s Spring 2010 runway show, I couldn’t help but think to myself, maybe the handbags were a joke after all. Maybe they won’t produce them. Perhaps, if we’re lucky, they’ll ship the REAL bags to retail and we’ll all be left with the daffy memory of those silly-looking bags that Prada so irreverently sent down the Milan runway.

Well, my wishful thinking was all for naut – the plasticky, rhinestoned monstrosities have landed. The Prada Spazzolato Tote might be the best of the bunch, and to say that’s faint praise would be the understatement of the season.

Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 Runway Bags

One of the hottest tickets at New York Fashion Week is for Proenza Schouler, which will be showing tonight. Proenza Schouler Bags have not only hit the scene but they have become highly sought after. The PS1 is now a part of many PurseBloggers handbag vocabulary.

While it will not include PS1’s, as the PS1 is not part of the runway show as they are separate from the seasonal bag collection, the handbags from the Fall/Winter 2010 Proenza Schouler show will be available on ProenzaSchouler.com for 24 following the show. Also, you can watch the show live tonight at 8 PM EST also at their website.

Check out the show tonight and make sure to check back to see if any of the runway bags are calling your name!

Fashion Week Fall 2010: Marc Jacobs

I’ll be blunt: Marc Jacobs is New York Fashion Week. It’s the show that everyone wants to go to and no one can stop talking about, and it may have produced more activity from the people I follow on Twitter than the Super Bowl. In a way, I suppose, it’s sort of the same thing, just for a vastly different group of people.

Marc had another right-on-time start this year, causing latecomer and heavyweight André Leon Talley to stand (the horror) to watch the show. And what a show it was – the reaction so far has been practically rhapsodic – fashion editors everywhere are panting and drooling like mere commoners! And why wouldn’t they be? It’s Marc Freakin’ Jacobs.

Rebecca Minkoff Mini Matinee Satchel

Excuse me while I shower the Rebecca Minkoff Mini Matinee Satchel with cliches:

Be still my heart.

I think I’m in love.

It had me at “hello.”

Ahem. Ok. I’m done with that for now, but I’m definitely not done with this bag. Not by a long shot. Why would I be? It’s a gorgeous color with a funky design and functional shape. It’s everything I’ve wanted and more. Ok, so maybe I wasn’t done with the cliches.

Fashion Week Fall 2010: Diane Von Furstenberg

In my mind, there are two types of designers: those that make us think about fashion and its relationship to philosophy and art, and those that make fashion accessible and wearable to the average fashion fan. Each pursuit has its own challenges, but it’s without question that Diane Von Furstenberg has the second type of clothing on lock.

Menswear was a dominant theme in DVF’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection, but it was styled in such a way that it would be totally accessible and wearable outside of an office setting. Blazers were layered over floaty chiffon, a girly rose-covered bolero was layered over a suit, and it all looked functional and fun to wear. The textural layering continued with chunky knits over sparkly patterned dresses, and Von Furstenberg threw in a few of her signature wraps for good measure. So what does this collection tell us?
