Real Talk: I Have Bag Commitment Phobia—How Do I Make It Stop?

All I want is a new bag, but I've got one serious problem, I just can't commit!

Almost 15 months ago to the day, I started working here at PurseBlog. That very day, I decided I was finally going to bite the bullet and purchase a new bag. I had been saving and saving for one, and though I wasn’t quite there yet, I knew that after I did my taxes, I would be ready to make the plunge into the bag pond, but only if I could decide what I wanted. I had my eye on getting a Gucci Marmont flap bag in black, but I really wanted to be sure, so I decided to give it a couple of months to see if I still wanted it. Fast forward to May, and my head was spinning in Gucci land. From then on, I said I wanted everything from a Gucci Dionysus, to a Valentino Rockstud Spike Bag, to the adorably vintage-looking Gucci Ophidia. Truth be told, I really do want all of them, but unfortunately, what I want and what I can actually have don’t always align how I wish they did! I’ve got a serious case of commitment phobia, and I don’t know how to make it stop! Help!

Our little corner of the internet here is so unique and special, and I absolutely adore being able to share my love of handbags with all of you. It’s really fun, exciting, and a unique opportunity to be able to see, wear and test so many handbags, but because of what I do, my indecisiveness and my inability to commit have gotten a lot worse! It seems like almost every week, I’m falling for a new bag, and just when I think I’ve made up my mind, something else seems to steal my heart. These days, I’ve actually landed back right where I started, and I am thinking about snatching up the Gucci Marmont Flap Bag in Black. Would you believe me, a New Yorker and lover of all things black, when I told you that I don’t own a great day-to-night black bag? I know—shocking! My only black bag is a Chloé tote that I don’t often use, so it seems completely insane to me to snatch up anything other than a black bag. With Gucci being the It Brand of the moment, it also seems like the Marmont, my original handbag crush, is an obvious choice. However, Louis Vuitton has been on my radar more and more these days, and I’m totally obsessed with the Pochette Metis in Black Leather.

Do you see what my problem is here? I simply cannot commit! I know that whatever I get, I will love, as all of choices are really good options, but I’m afraid that once I give my debit card a solid workout, something else will come along that I’ll want, and I won’t be able to have it. I want a new bag so bad, and I’ve worked hard to save enough to get one, so please help a sister out! Do you guys suffer from the same problem? How do you know when you’re ready to fully commit to ONE bag buy?
