The New Gucci Deco Bag Revisits the Past

Offering a cool, retro feel...

In some ways, Gucci Twinsburg, the brand’s Spring 2023 presentation, was a prolific ode to Alessandro Michele, who would announce his departure only a month later. The collection was plentiful, with Michele deepening his exploration of the House’s archives for the final time. Nods to the past were present throughout, from the ready-to-wear to the bags. Today we’re taking a look at one of those bags.

A Retro Revival

Introducing the new Gucci Deco bag, which was first presented during Gucci Twinsburg. While not a total archival revival, the bags are said to highlight emblematic symbols from House archives. Featuring a rectangular silhouette with a quilted body, it’s the details that offer a cool retro appeal.

At a closer look, the bag’s body and flap feature different kinds of quilting, which adds to the vintage feel. Tonal leather trim adorns the outside of the bag, which is said to be 1970s-inspired. The interlocking-GG logo is what really gives the bag its striking edge, offering an Art-Deco feel true to the bag’s name.

A classy, elegant bag, the Gucci Deco arrives in both a mini and a small size, with overall dimensions of 7″W x 5.7″H x 3.1″D and 9.8″W x 7.7″H x 3.1″D, respectively. Crafted from leather and lined in leather as well, the small Deco contains one zippered pocket, while the mini has one open interior. Both sizes offer variety in usability, with a sliding chain strap that can be worn singled or doubled for crossbody or shoulder wear.
