Sabato De Sarno wants to change the way we dress. There are no rules anymore. Fashion converses with reality, and what is presented defies what is expected. De Sarno’s vision of the Gucci wardrobe embraces a clear, feminine aesthetic. Silhouettes are refined, oozing romanticism and a distinct allure of sex appeal.
“My fashion lies in capturing the extraordinary where the ordinary is expected.” – Sabato De Sarno.
Ready-to-wear feels innately feminine but with an edge. Velvet dresses with lace details give way to sheer sheaths, and twin sets worn underneath staple outerwear. A strong array of knitwear pieces is featured throughout, and this collection is all about unexpected details—jacquard prints that depict a geometric heron, only distinguishable up close. At the same time, crystal fringes create a ribbed motif.
New Bags Nod to the Archives
On the runway, there are many new bags to mull over. First, there is a very consumer-friendly new top-handle bag called GG Milano; it arrives in an array of fun colors and is crafted from nappa leather with a puffy finish featuring a perforated logo print.
That same embossed logo leather appears on RTW, too, like a stunning Gucci logo leather jacket, shown with a matching heritage-inspired travel vanity case.

Sitting alongside new iterations of the Jackie Notte is a half-moon-shaped silhouette inspired by equestrian motifs found in the Gucci Archive. Offering a contemporary appeal, this rounded shape is shown in shiny leathers and exotics in Gucci’s new staple hues. It is finished with an interlocking GG logo.
The collection also features nods to iconic Gucci Bamboo, like a supple leather clutch that is finished with hardware replicating Gucci’s storied Bamboo handles. More literally, there is a Bamboo top handle mini that oozes classic Gucci heritage. View bags from the runway below.

The Bags of Gucci Fall 2024

This feels like high-end dupes for the Coach Pillow Tabby and Rebecca Minkoff bags. What is happening at Gucci?
Right?? They are behind on the pillowy bag trend
Also a little Wandler’s Hortensia bag. Not seeing Gucci outside of the Jackie and bamboo handle
That must be why I like these bags. I own Coach and Rebecca Minkoff bags. Well, my money is safe.
I love that! I will say that I do love the clothes, but the bags…. I think Coach and RM are the way to go for these designs!
All of the bags look like Coach bags! The Trail Bag, the City Blocks Semi-Circle Bag, and the Pillow Tabby. Embarrassing for de Sarno and for anyone willing to pay 5x the price of Coach’s cost for these.
kinda love the bamboo handle bag. the rest? not really. but their boots. so cool
Another “heritage + modernity” post… Can we stop stating the obvious? It’s literally all luxury brands.
Sabato De Sarno’s first collection was quite a disaster, however, the bamboo bucket bag takes the cake.
I’ve seen a lot of designer east/west bags and Gucci’s are the only ones I like. They’re really cute!
That little burgundy croc mini-tote with the bamboo handles?? Absolutely love. Everything else… less so…
Some of these marmont bags just looks too plain to me. They’re giving ‘made for outlet’. Especially those embossed vanity-case bags.
Meh, bring back the luxury embroidered bags that were out from 2016 for a few years. The Tian the embroidered and painted bags. These are run of the mill.
I might like the little bamboo-handle bag. If they line it with plain canvas and charge roughly $4,000 for it, like the 1947, then I’ll pass.
I still love the Jackie and the 1947, the new offerings are meh! The clothing however is pretty great, wearable but unique!
I must say I am very disappointed in these bags.i love Gucvi handbags as I own 22 of the,m. I gave away 2 smaller bags I wasn’t using.but I know none of these will be in collection. I have found lately there isn’t much in luxury bags that will get me to part with my money.
The half moon bag is such a joke
I got so excited over the words “feminine but with an edge,” but then I see designs that don’t feel particularly feminine and with no edge.
