Since his appointment, Demna has done an incredible job of fusing Gucci’s archival House codes and core DNA with a contemporary appeal. Today’s Gucci is fresh yet still wearable, with an unmistakable air of sophistication that makes all of us want to be a Gucci girl (or guy).
Gucci’s new era expertly melds elements spanning the brand’s 100-year heritage to create a distinct brand DNA. This new-meet-old brand aesthetic has been supercharged by Demna’s talent for breaking down House codes and rebuilding them with a modern feel, enticing Gucci fans both new and old to rediscover what it means to be a Gucci fan, and of course, this includes celebrity handbag lovers.
Demna, who unexpectedly dropped his first collection for Gucci late last year in lookbook format ahead of Milan Fashion Week, made his runway debut with La Primavera for Fall 2026, and it was a handbag lover’s dream.
Meet Gucci’s New Horsebit Ristretto
The collection, which offered a range of pieces in a see-now, buy-now format immediately following the show, is finally hitting boutiques, and celebrities are already playing favorites. One of them? The brand new Gucci Horsebit Ristretto.
Named after the Italian coffee style known as ristretto, a highly concentrated, small shot of espresso, the Ristretto mirrors this, described as a compact iteration of one of Gucci’s most important House codes—the Horsebit. Small in size, it packs a big punch in Gucciness. Designed to be carried over the shoulder or as a clutch, it easily transitions from day to night thanks to its interchangeable chain strap, which can also be completely removed, allowing the bag to function as a clutch.
