When Gucci released its Pre-Fall 2025 lookbook, the first thing I noticed was silk, and lots of it. Models wore a variety of printed silk scarves tied to their heads, and that theme continued on the runway for Fall 2025. Then, earlier this Spring, Gucci released a head-turning campaign starring Julia Garner, dedicated to the art of silk and celebrating its emblematic silk scarves.
The iconic Gucci silk carré was back.
But really, did it ever leave?
A Symbol of Timeless Style: The Gucci Silk Carré
A silk scarf is one of the most timeless and versatile items you can have in your wardrobe. It can be worn at any age, making it one of those rare pieces that will age with you.
I’ve lived in silk scarves in the summer for years, with one of my favorites being a brown floral-printed scarf that once belonged to my grandma (I refuse to talk about the Gucci scarf that my sister has from her).
I felt a thrill of nostalgia knowing it would be the summer of the silk scarf, and I knew I wanted to add another one to my rotation. I immediately reached out to our friends at Gucci about the idea of styling the iconic Gucci silk scarf in three ways.

A Perfect Pair: Gucci Jackie 1961 and Gucci Printed Silk Carré
Accessorizing our accessories has become one of the most popular handbag trends of the year, and if you’re not the charm type, consider this the chicer alternative.
A scarf can be paired with a bag in several ways, but I prefer the ease of wear when it’s loosely tied to the handle rather than looped around the strap. The scarf’s print is more on display, and I like how it flows in the breeze on a windy summer day. I gravitated towards the Horsebit print on this stunning blue silk scarf because I liked the hint of House heritage it holds (I am a true fashion history nerd!).
The range of blue pairs perfectly with the newest blue hue of the iconic Gucci Jackie 1961. Named after one of history’s most beloved style icons, Jackie Onassis Kennedy, the Jackie bag is the ideal pairing as Jackie O’s headscarf moments are some of the most widely circulated in fashion.

The Headscarf: A Boho Knot
There are a myriad of different ways to wear a silk scarf as a hair accessory, but by far my favorite way is the boho knot, taken straight from Gucci Pre-Fall 2025. While tying a silk scarf under your chin a la Jackie O is undeniably chic, knotting it around your head is undoubtedly cool, oh so 70s, and feels perfect for the warm weather months.
The size of the Gucci carré (90x90cm) is ideal for this type of tie; truthfully, its size makes the scarf so versatile in general. I’d also wear this type of tie poolside with a frozen drink in hand, and save the Jackie O way for the cooler months.

The Going Out Look: A Scarf Top
The scarf top is my summer staple when I don’t know what to wear, as it is one of the easiest pieces that looks cool no matter what. Truthfully, my favorite way to wear a scarf top is with low-rise jeans, which gives off the ultimate ‘I threw this on and ran out of the house’ vibe.
There are two ways I like to wear a scarf top, and the first, shown here, is only possible with larger scarves like this one (again, this size is ideal). You simply tie two ends around your neck and the other two tightly around your waist, draping the scarf in the front like you would a cowl neck top.
I love an open back for a night out, but for a more casual tie, simply fold the scarf in half like a triangle, with the point hitting at your belly button, and tie the ends together at your back. The triangular tie pairs well with jeans and can also be worn over a bikini.

Though these are my three favorite ways to wear a Gucci silk carré, truthfully, the options are endless (as are the many print options available). Are you a silk scarf lover too? How do you style yours?

Congrats on the beautiful Jackie and scarf. The scarf looks great on you, both worn as a top and as a headpiece. I love the headscarf look and wish I could pull it off.
Thank you!!
The Gucci Jackie is a bag that has been on my list for years but when it comes down to purchasing I always opt for something else. I really do like the bag, next bag purchase, maybe?
I’ve always loved the Gucci Jackie, and it was such a treat to pick this one – the color is amazing! A chic shoulder bag is the silhouette I reach for most, and I already see it as a bag I’ll reach for time and time again (like my Cleo!)
I love the look of the scarf tied at the top of the head, very chic!
Beautiful combination, looks great on you!
