One of my most loved bags in my collection is my Gucci Horsebit 1955 bag. But my love for the Horsebit didn’t start there; in fact, my first Gucci bag was the Horsebit Hobo (from 2005). The Horsebit family continues to expand. Today, the latest Gucci Horsebit 1955 handbag campaign launches featuring actress Halle Bailey, Global Brand Ambassador Hanni, and critically acclaimed, award-winning actress and one of the faces of Gucci Guilty, Julia Garner.
The Expanding Horsebit Line
The Horsebit 1955 collection is a staple for the House. While many elements are new, the Horsebit hardware detailing of the double ring and bar is a modernized variation of the one first introduced on a pair of signature loafers 70 years ago. The emblematic equestrian touches tie back to the world of horse riding, which was a connection very important to the House’s history.
The Horsebit 1955 adds a wide range of sizes, colors, materials, and GG canvas to offer new renditions in an evolving collection meant for varying needs and style wants. The rectangular top-flap shoulder bag with an adjustable strap remains my go-to, but new variations are being showcased in this campaign as well.
This line combines the best of Gucci, a bridge between eras past and present, along with the archival revival (a term we have been using since this bag’s first release) feel that Gucci perfected.
There’s an ease and elegance to the designs, one that allows for the wearer to make it their own thru a simple outfit to an ornate combination of prints and dressiness.
The Making of the Gucci Horsebit
The making of a bag allows us to experience more of the tradition and craftsmanship that goes into the design process. Seeing a finished product has its own excitement, but understanding what goes into making the bags we love brings the bag to life in a way that draws our inquisitive and appreciative side out. We have the US exclusive on how the Horsebit 1955 is made to share with you, a simple yet mesmerizing video that showcases the different steps it takes to craft this bag from start to finish.
Celebrities and Their Horsebit Bags
Seeing a bag in the wild brings it to life further. While it’s not a surprise to see Brand Ambassadors and one of the faces of Gucci Guilty carrying these bags, seeing how it’s styled allows for a new view on the designs. Both Hanni and Julia Garner have been spotted with different versions of the Horsebit 1955, along with plenty of other friends of the House. Meanwhile, yours truly carries my own (I have two versions) all the time in my corner of the world as well!
Wow, NewJeans Hanni and South Korean solo singer IU
I am clearly in the minority, but I find the horsebit completely ugly. Never understood the appeal of these bags.
I think it’s pretty elegant, but yes it looks like something my grandma would wear
Same here, am I the only one think it old fashioned? Maybe I am old school.
Luv it ! One of my favourite 💜💕
