We reported last year that Louis Vuitton and Gucci were leading a monogram comeback, and that continues to be the case. Gucci is probably one of the hottest handbag brands at the moment, with everyone carrying and wearing the brand (including Lady Gaga during her amazing Super Bowl opening with the national anthem).

I love what Alessandro Michele is creating and the way he’s made the brand incredibly buzz worthy again. He believes in the monogram print of the house and there are so many bags that are coming out with varying prints and embellishments. While the Gucci Dionysus is still probably my favorite Gucci bag at the moment, there are so many others that are just as lust-worthy.

I love the whimsical print on this Gucci Padlock Shoulder Bag. Featuring birds and flower blossoms, this pattern was inspired by Chinese landscapes on 18th century tapestries and screens. While majority of the bag is coated canvas, there’s a paneled chocolate pocket on the back of the bag and leather on both sides of the bag. The interior is lined in suede and the gold chain shoulder strap can be doubled to create a shorter drop. This bag is unique and intriguing, which is just they way I like it. Buy via Net-A-Porter for $2,100.

Pretty print makes the monogram more palatable. I’m really liking this style.

I’m not a monogram girl but these latest offerings from Gucci are VERY tempting.

I love this new Chinese print too! But the larger of the two Boston bags (pictured below) with this design is more practical for me. I will be in Paris next week and high on my to-do list (in addition to seeing the Louis Vuitton Volez, Voguez, Voyagez exhibition at the Grand Palais) will be a visit to the Gucci store on Avenue Montaigne. With any luck, the “tian” Boston bag will be coming home with me :-)

      It’s gorgeous!

Yes, I agree! And the price in euros is not bad — 1390 for this bag. The bag Megs posted about (also beautiful) is 1690 euros which is about $1900, so anyone planning a trip to Europe might want to buy it there.

omg they are so beautiful. And it’s so perfect for spring and summer!

I’d like to see color variation on the canvas rather than applying graphics on top of the same color over and over. Something like this for spring:

  • Simply gorgeous! It crosses the price point for what I would spend on a ‘pretty print’ though. I’d pay a little more for the same bag in solid leather

It looks better than the plain logo but still not a fan. Too much $ for what you get, IMO

I agree , Gucci is amazing right now. I have not purchased the Dionysus yet…but I may. I wanted to see how it would do in the market first. The mule loafers..and the ones with fur…so creative and funky. The gold loafers..love! The logo prints are not my favorite either but the Gucci bags are so pretty I forget about the logo!

I’ve always loved the Gucci monogram as opposed to LV. Something about it looks more like a print. I’m currently saving up for a Gucci bag, but haven’t decided what I want. For what Gucci offers, they are one of the more “affordable” luxury design houses.

WOW all these designs inspired by Chinese or Asian culture in general are just gorgeous. I really admire brands that mix different cultures together but still keep the brand spirit. Part of the reason I like Chanel’s Métiers d’Art shows so much.

Gucci overall has been AMAZING under Alessandro Michele. I finally splurged on my very first piece of Ready-to-wear from the mens fall 2015 collection. Stunning!

I like this bag. It might be my first canvas bag. (smile) I still prefer buying leather bags, though.

I don’t get it. I don’t carry monogram print anything (I’ve got a lot of LV and Coach, so this takes effort lol), but putting a picture (or 70’s appliqués) over monogram is so busy I get a headache looking at it. I am glad a lot of ladies and gentlemen love them and these bags make them happy, though. Different strokes for different folks.

Absolutely love the bamboo shopper tian print. It’s so beautiful like a garden full of fresh flowers and birds..lol. I’ve never been much of a Gucci handbag enthusiast before but this collection definitely caught my eye and pocket book…pun intended

  • Passerine

yay! I went into the Gucci Paris store on Ave Montaigne and came out with the Boston “Tian”. Gorgeous. they had a stunning tote in the pattern with bamboo handles and red leather strap, but the Boston was more practical and sat more easily on my shoulder…

I much prefer the padlock to the horseshoe or whatever that u shaped thing is. This bag is sensational but I don’t have the ‘guts’ to wear it, I find it a bit too showy. If it was leather and one colour without the monogram, then I would buy it. I don’t want to pay top dollar for canvas. But then it would probably look like every other bag out there haha.
