A Look at the Gucci Les Pommes Collection

An apple motif adds a playful note to the House's classic monogram

Today’s Gucci is defined by a playful, quirky nature. One that transcends how we, as handbag lovers, saw the House in the past. Yet creative director Alessandro Michele has done an incredible job at fusing his quirky-cool style with the House’s iconic, and storied, brand DNA. And arguably one of the most recognizable elements of the House is the iconic GG supreme monogram print.

Since his appointment at Gucci, Michele has take the iconic House classic and reimagined it a plethora of ways. From the floral and the fruity to the quirky characters of Doraeman and more, Michele has no shortage of ideas when it comes to revitalizing GG Supreme. Now, we’re taking a look at the latest rendition from the House, the Gucci Les Pommes Collection.

Fruits and vegetables have become contemporary House codes and are meant as a nod to Gucci’s playful spirt. Classic House emblems melded with fun, quirky details make for a whimsical collection of handbags, RTW and accessories with the newly introduced Les Pommes Collection. While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Gucci’s iconic GG supreme canvas get a fruity fresh makeover, this version is slightly more animated and kitschy, with printed apples adorning Gucci’s fan favorite bags like the Ophidia, Padloack, Duffle and more. And if you’d prefer a small accessory there’s always a card case or wallet. Prices on handbags range from $1,200 to $2,700. Shop the Gucci Les Pommes Collection here and view more below.

I always thought the Gucci monogram meshed well with other prints (Tian, Blooms, Flora) but this is just awful. The apple pattern seems more suited for the apron of a 1950s Midwestern housewife.

I find it really fun and I particularly like the color choices. Would I purchase it? Probably not. Would I enjoy seeing someone rock it? YES!
