Sarah Burton Modernizes the Givenchy Antigona for Fall 2025

New Givenchy, new Antigona...

Givenchy Antigona East:West

Born back in 2010, the Givenchy Antigona was designed by then-creative director Riccardo Tisci. A decade and a half later, and against all odds, the Antigona is here to stay. While many popular bags debut with a bang, the Antigona was one of those rare bags that continued gaining traction after it was first released.

At times, the design felt dated to a specific period in fashion. Still, it has continued to prove itself to be a classic to the House of Givenchy, transcending trends and changing creative directors. Last Spring, the iconic shape was given a chic, clean makeover with the Antigona cube, and this season, it’s modernized once again, debuting as part of Sarah Burton‘s Fall 2025 collection for Givenchy.

Givenchy’s Next Chapter

Burton, who made her runway debut with Fall 2025 back in March, didn’t send many bags down the runway. Still, her much-anticipated debut was celebrated, marking a new era for one of fashion’s few female creative directors. This is Sarah Burton’s Givenchy.

As we inch closer to fall, new campaign images starring Kaia Gerber have been released, offering a further look at Givenchy’s next chapter. The first thing to note? The Givenchy Antigona is here to stay, and it just got a sleek, modern update.

The New Givenchy Antigona

Combining classic Givenchy with contemporary edge, the Antigona appears elongated, in a new east/west silhouette. You’ll notice a few key details that instantly identify the silhouette as part of the Antigona family, like its boxy silhouette and its padded pentagonal leather patch embossed with small GIVENCHY lettering.

Arriving in two sizes—small and mini, the bag is further defined by its origami-like gusset construction and zip-around closure, which opens to one main compartment. Meant to be worn with the top handle, bags also arrive with a longer, removable leather strap.

The small arrives in black, white, and dark brown, while the mini also offers fun color options like butter yellow, red, and baby pink. Retail is $1,750 for the mini and $2,100 for the small. Discover more via Givenchy.

I think this is the refresh this bag needed! I love it

A refresh was definitely needed but this is just plain simple ugly

Mari

I actually prefer the original version over this, dated or not.

Wow it’s crazy how utterly uninventive designers can be. This is literally trying so hard to be the Alaia Teckel it’s nuts. Maybe the 5th bag now trying to be that style. My advice is just buy the cool one, aka the Teckel.

The Teckel, the Khaite Teckel, the Miu Miu Teckel, Hermes does a version too, and Jil Sander’s classic top handle bag… at least the original Antigona was something on its own.

It’s cute but I’m sorry Givenchy has made too many versions of the Antigona from the Soft to the Sport versions.

Can they not just capitalize on a “brand-new” bag with a new name instead of relying on the Antigona name?!?

I like the shape, but the straps are too close together. Looks odd.

Looks like my grandmother’s bag in the 70s/80s

Following Alaia. I actually kind of like it, love the original version.
