When Sarah Burton took the helm at Givenchy in late 2024, fans eagerly awaited what her vision for the House would be—especially handbag lovers, who hadn’t seen a big handbag hit from the House in recent years.

Burton, who made her runway debut for Fall 2025, didn’t send many bags down the runway. Still, her much-anticipated debut was celebrated, marking a new era for one of fashion’s few female creative directors.

Burton, who spent her entire career at Alexander McQueen, became known for her powerful yet delicately feminine silhouettes, driven by a true understanding of how women want to feel and dress. Today, a new bag joins the Givenchy lineup, driven by that exact notion.

Sculptural Lines, Feminine Curves

The Snatch bag, one of Burton’s first big bags, debuts and is described as a study of intimacy, inspired by the architectural lines and feminine shapes of Burton’s ready-to-wear. Its sculptural lines mirror the planes and curves of a woman’s most feminine pieces of clothing—the cinched waist of a jacket, the curve of a bra—juxtaposed with its straight, exaggerated handles.

The Snatch bag, which arrives in three sizes—small, medium, and large—is crafted of smooth-grained leather with a lightly tumbled texture that holds color beautifully. Speaking of color, though there are neutral iterations like black and cream, bold hues of red and burgundy are the most eye-catching.

The bag, finished with a double top-zip and chain detail, opens to reveal a contrasting leather lining and ample interior space. Designed to be hand-carried, there is a longer removable strap for added functionality, which can be added for shoulder wear on the large or medium, and crossbody wear on the small.

I like the bag, but not the name. “Snatched” is so overused right now that I cringe when I hear it.

Co-opted language from LGBTQ communities.

Not even. Snatched was in maybe 3-5 years ago haha.

1. Being a huge McQueen and Sarah Burton fan, I love this new bag and appreciate her influence and design of it.

2. Whomever came up with the name for it should be fired. Immediately. I’m assuming that the naming of products is done by a team of (other) people. But, who knows?

Despite how beautiful it is, the name might actually put me off purchasing it.

Uh uh

Ummm. The name, seriously?

So anyway….

These look like if you took the lululemon Wunder Trains with Side Pocket and reimagined it as a bag. It even has the gusset!

Why are unfinushed-looking straps with dangly loose ends like… the thing now? Hate it- makes things look unfinished and cheap. This bag seems like an amalgamation of all the current trends- scoopy shaped opening, plain leather with one logo in the middle, unpolished strap danglies, handheld straps only, oversized east-west shape. Not feeling it, and not because I think “classic only”, or scoff at new things… just don’t like any of those current trends for myself personally, and look forward to moving on from the odd blend of oversized Y2k bags with banana-shaped openings and uber-minimal “quiet luxury” blandness.

It reminds me of an older Chloe design (the Baylee tote) from early to mid 2000s that PurseBlog also covered years back.

Yes, that’s it!! I knew it looked familiar, that’s exactly what I thought as well! Looks just like the Baylee, the shape and the zippers are incredibly similar.

Shellie

I really expected more from her, too bad.

Looks hideous so maybe call it hideous

Looks like it wants to be cute but that thing in the middle and thin straps make it a miss. Give it some rolled handles and take away the dangly straps and that thing in the middle and it may help. I do like the shape of the bag and it looks like quality material.
