Named after the way French girls walk around Paris with a loaf of bread tucked under their arms, the original Fendi Baguette made its debut on the runway as part of Fendi’s Fall/Winter 1997 collection.
Characterized by a sleek silhouette that fit perfectly under the arm, the original Baguette—designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi—was defined by its simple shape and compact shoulder strap, allowing wearers to keep their essentials close at hand.
The Original It Bag
Though the 1990s were known for being a minimalist’s dream, Fendi knew the Baguette was designed to stand out. While its silhouette offered simple, clean lines, its patterns, colors, and embellishments did quite the opposite. Breaking the fashion rules of the era, Fendi designed the Baguette for loud-luxury enthusiasts, and nearly 30 years later, it continues to endure.

While its aesthetic was boundary-breaking in its own right, Fendi also experimented with new materials and bold techniques. Today, with Maria Grazia Chiuri at Fendi’s helm, the Baguette returns to its original design, a revival celebrated through new campaign images that bring to life the bag’s enduring appeal and spirit of self-expression.
The Baguette® 26424 Reborn
Once again declaring the Baguette’s place in modern handbag history, the images capture the bag in its original silhouette and style code 26424 alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Iris Law, and others. Each image embodies the wearer’s distinct personality and attitude, further cementing the Baguette’s importance as a symbol of self-expression.
The Baguette® 26424 returns with the launch of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut collection for Fendi Fall 2026, arriving in stores later this summer. Discover more from the campaign below and on Fendi.com now.

The prices of these bags are insane. They are beautiful but not beautiful enough to justify the head-scratching ticket price. I’m a Baguette collector, and even I am finding it very hard to justify it. When asked if I am ready to pre-order, I declined. Maybe when I see one in real life and fall head over heals in love I might lose my head and hand over my credit card, but I can not do it sight unseen.
