Anna’s Chanukah Wish List

Anna's Chanuka List

Even though the eighth night of Chanukah was last Friday, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to make my wish list. Besides, I spent the holiday at college and celebrated with my friends every night- while that was lovely and fun, my first Chanukah away from home lacked an essential ingredient: the presents. Let’s face it: I’m notoriously difficult to shop for, and even my parents stick to my wish list or a gift certificate due to my extreme pickiness. Let’s not call it pickiness, let’s call it “selectivity.” Yes, I like that.

Recently I was introduced to a luxury accessory line that I can not pass up covering for you all. Plia Designs focus is to bring luxury to female tech accessories. Cole Haan Zip Hobo

Every now and again all I want is a nice handbag with great leather and relatively clean lines. Certainly I have plenty of days where I want my handbag to boast great studding, fringe, zippered or other noticeable details. Yet, I always stop and take note of a wonderfully executed handbag that is simplistic in nature but totally nails what a great handbag should be.

Leave it to Cole Haan to answer this conundrum that I sometimes find myself in. Obviously, Cole Haan is known for exquisite, rich and supple leather. At the same time, they’ve continued to impress me by branching into the handbag world. The Cole Haan Zip Hobo jumped out and completely captivated me today.

Botkier Trigger Moto Clutch

Before we start, I’ll go ahead and reveal my bias: I’m a big fan of the Botkier Trigger bag. I have a yellow one from Spring/Summer that I use quite a bit, and I never stop getting compliments on it from random strangers. I remember when the original iterations came out (and I still wish that I had scooped one up in this gorgeous oxblood shade that they once came in).

It looks as though our friends at Botkier have moved on from the tote version of the Trigger, but they’re still making the Botkier Trigger Moto Clutch for all of us to enjoy.

Coach Poppy Feather Crossbody

As I’ve said before, I am not one to wear flashy feathers or sequins or even sparkles. But this Coach Poppy Feather Crossbody has single-handedly made me like colored feathers in addition to restoring my faith in the somewhat iffy Coach Poppy line. I really can’t say much about this little bunch of joyous purple feathers except that it’s a bag fit for a diva- or the girl next door. Allow me to explain.

Because it’s tiny and utterly adorable, it’s suitable for people even outside of the over-the-top-give-me-sequins-I-need-sequins camp of dressing. And yes, there are people who are that obsessed with sequins. I know them. But this bitty bag smacks of glamour in a way that’s not completely obnoxious or even slightly insane. No, here the feathers add just the right dose of spice without going razzle-dazzle crazy.

Marni Leather Frame Bag

After having endured nine hours of final examinations in the past two days, there’s little that could lure me out of my practically brain-dead state. This Marni Leather Frame Bag, though, has managed to make me as alert as a puppy who’s been lapping up coffee.

I’ve long been a fan of Marni, what with their tendencies to add wonderfully quirky and eclectic touches and colors. This bag, though, has more of a sensible feel, though the black acetate ball clasp adds an unexpected dash of fun. The dark, dusty flesh color combined with the rustic brown strap make for a color combination that’s both unique and flattering? And because I’ve been lugging books around campus all week, I can’t help but add that the bag’s size is perfect for spiral notebooks.

Carlos Falchi graffiti-print bags now available!

A few months ago, we brought you news that friend-of-PurseBlog Carlos Falchi would be collaborating with his daughter on a new line of graffiti-inspired bags to debut in the coming months.

Well, the future is now: the bags are here! We already had some pictures of what they would look like, so that isn’t much of a surprise, but it’s nice to see something so unique and fun arrive in stores nonetheless.

Linea Pelle Vanessa Hobo

There are few things in handbag life that I love more than a big, slouchy, comfortable hobo. They may not be the most functional bags as far as finding your stuff when you need something that has drifted to the bottom, but I enjoy carrying them more than anything else.

For some reason, double-handle bags almost always tend to drift off of my shoulder, and usually hobos have much more generous handle drops than their tote counterparts. I’m a lazy, ineffectual person by nature, so a bag that I can put on my shoulder and forget about is almost a necessity for me. The Linea Pelle Vanessa Hobo looks like a perfect prospect.

Megs’ Christmas Wishlist

Megs Christmas Wishlist
I cannot believe it. Christmas is at the end of this week, as in 4 days from now. As in, when did that happen and what am I going to buy people?? Nevertheless it is nearly here and I have yet to make a true wishlist. So here it is. Take note Vlad, family, and friends. And yes, I realize my wishlist is almost entirely black, grey, and white. The weather must be affecting me.

UGG Australia Small Shearling/Leather Crossbody Bag

UGG Australia Small Shearling Leather Crossbody BagIf you are reading this and you are in the Northeast US you have just finished digging yourself out of x-number feet of snow. There is something I completely miss about snow storms like the one that just happened. I don’t miss digging my car out of the snow, but I do miss sitting inside and watching the snow fall and cover everything I can see. It is therapeutic, beautiful and serene. At the same time, I am reminded of the cozy mittens, scarves, boots and coats that I had to keep me warm. Coming across the UGG Australia Small Shearling/Leather Crossbody Bag brought back all of these memories.

Blog Debates: Is it disrespectful to depict a bag with the animal from which it came?

Bottega-Veneta-Icon-Croc-Handbags-580x327

It seems as though we had a bit of a kerfuffle on our hands over the weekend.

On Friday night, Megs posted pictures of two bags as the last in our 12 Days of Bottega Veneta series. The bags were made of crocodile and depicted with Wally the Stunt Alligator, a resident of the Everglades Holiday Park in South Florida. Note: Wally was not harmed in the making of this (or any other) post.

Despite that, reactions to the photos were decidedly mixed. Some people found them beautiful and thought provoking, while other commenters left messages on the blog and Facebook that ranged from “unacceptable” to “perverted.” With reactions that disparate and opinionated, we couldn’t help but have an official Blog Debate.
