Stella McCartney Chain Faux Leather Bag

After we posted about the BV Croc Fume bags, the comment flood gates exploded. We truly enjoyed reading every comment. The photos and post got all of you thinking and sharing which means the photo did invoke an emotional response, meaning the photos got their job done. With that in mind, today there will be a post by both Amanda and I with your comments in mind.

I am going to delve into a category that we rarely cover on PurseBlog but will try to cover more, eco-friendly handbags. One of the most well-know eco friendly designers has a famous last name and a line of clothing and handbags that grace red carpets, catwalks, and celebs.

Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Nylon Grocery Bag

I feel like I’m constantly ragging on the Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent bag line, and I really don’t mean to be. I have nothing in particular against the line and I actually quite like the designer’s clothes, but the bags are, over and over again, simply not attractive to me. It’s the brand’s first foray into handbags, so I can only hope that their efforts will improve. When they do, I will be more than happy to write nice things about them.

Bad reviews may be easier to write, but I much prefer it when I find new bags that I love instead of ones that I hate. Sadly, I pretty much loathe the Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Nylon Grocery Bag, which is too bad, since if I’d actually quite like it if it wasn’t for one thing and one thing only.

Dautore Pleated Leather Satchel

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out if I like this bag or not, and frankly, I still have no idea. I simply cannot make up my mind. While I do like the color and unique design of the bag, I still think that it is a bit too much. Perhaps I can’t get over the fact that the bag looks a bit like marshmallows. Do you see it?

Tod’s Shade Tote

I’ve never been an overwhelming fan of Tod’s. While I can see why some people would really like them, and I don’t doubt that they’re well-made, they’re usually missing a certain something that makes a bag work for me. I like a bit of pizazz in my handbags, and Tod’s keeps their look very, very low key.

I do very much like the Tod’s Shade Tote, however. It’s got that little certain something to it that makes me find it appealing, and I’m still not sure exactly what that is. The color? Shape? Maybe a combination of the two?

Treesje Marquis Satchel

Treesje Marquis SatchelThe more I look at Treesje bags lately, the more I wonder why I don’t have one yet. I mean, I’ve got all kinds of stuff – expensive, cheap, and everywhere in between. I really need a Treesje. For my collection, the Treesje Marquis Satchel would fit in beautifully.

Day 12: Bottega Veneta Soft Crocodile Fume Bags

Bottega Veneta Truffle Soft Crocodile Hobo Bag

On the twelfth day of Bottega Veneta we have our best photos and bags yet, a duo of Croc bags, the finest we have ever met!

How can I begin to describe our final day of Bottega Veneta without typing in all caps followed by an absurd number of exclamation points? It is nearly impossible. I want to stand on top of my couch with my lap top in my hands and scream my excitement over these two bags and the photos Vlad took.

To answer one of your first questions, yes that is a live alligator in our photos. To be precise, he is a four year old alligator named Wally who lives at Everglades Holiday Park in Florida. Next answer is also yes, that is two exotic Crocodile BV bags that Wally is posing with. So let’s get to it!

J. Crew Crushed Glitter Minaudière

J. Crew Crushed Glitter Minaudiere

I was just talking to one of my friends back in DC about what she has going on for New Year’s Eve. As we exchanged stories of what we may or may not do, there was one thing that I couldn’t stop thinking about: what handbag I am going to carry. I know this has been the focus of many of my posts lately, but hey, everything is cyclical. So, per usual, I sort of forgot about J. Crew until I went to check out their amazing sales during this time of the year and I came across this beauty.

Lockheart Victoria Jeweled Leather Hobo

Once again, Lockheart comes out with a handbag that is full of amazing detail work. I actually had a chance to see the Lockheart design team in action a few weeks back and I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the leathers, the conversations and the absolute love for handbags this team has. It is clear that hours of time and thought go into each bag. So, coming across the Lockheart Victoria Jeweled Leather Hobo reminded me of all the detail that can easily be overlooked but shouldn’t be.

Lanvin Aumoniere Satin Pochette

If you are in search of a unique evening bag for your holiday and New Years celebrations consider the Lanvin Aumoniere satin pochette ($750 at Net-a-Porter). This adorable petite bag has a very vintage inspired look to it. This bag could have been your grandmother’s and looks just as modern today as it might have fifty years ago. Translated as “little pocket” the Lanvin Aumoniere is made of classic black satin and features satin drawstring handles which gather up to close the bag. There is also an optional gold-tone metal chain strap which I think detracts from the elegant simplicity for of the Lanvin Aumoniere satin pochette. Inside you’ll find a small pouch pocket with just enough space for keeping your keys and cel phone in place. The expandable sack-like shape of this bag, although small is perfect for toting your evening essentials as you welcome in 2010!

Amanda’s Christmas Wish List

Amanda's Christmas Wish List

Y’all, I’m really hard to shop for. I have poor impulse control when I decide that I really must have something, and that leaves precious few gifts to buy at the end of the year. As if that wasn’t enough, my birthday is Christmas Eve, which only doubles the burden on anyone trying to buy anything for me, ever.

The safe money is usually on just taking me out to dinner and calling it a gift, but if anyone were to be confident or generous enough to try and buy me material goods for the holidays, here’s a sampler of what I might want. Unless, you know, I manage to buy all these things by the time this post runs.

Rafe New York Mandy Hobo

Rafe-New-York-Mandy-HoboI hate, HATE being called Mandy. It’s not my name, and I’ve never been one for nicknames, but Mandy is THE WORST. For other people, it’s fine. In reference to me, it sounds like nothing less than nails on a chalkboard. It’s not my name!

But it is the name of the Rafe New York Mandy Hobo, and that’s fine. If the designers feel like it’s a Mandy, then that’s up to them. And this, admittedly, is one very attractive Mandy.
