Now that we’re past the midpoint in summer and pre-fall pre-orders are starting to give way to fall, it’s time to do an early stock-taking of what’s available, what’s new and what’s, most importantly, worth your attention and dollars. We’ve scoured pre-orders and lookbooks, and below, we’ve presented our findings. As we find more new fall bags that you need to see, we’ll keep you updated. Until then, here’s a primer on what we know so far.
Alexander McQueen Legend Flap Bag
$1,795 via ferfetch.com
McQueen’s Legend bags have been a huge success, and now the details are getting scaled down into a petite shoulder bag.
Chloé Hudson Mini Bag
$1,890 via Bergdorf Goodman
Chloe‘s Drew and Faye launches were both big hits, and the boho vibe of the Hudson line should make for the third in a row. The little bag already comes in several variations, including ones with long leather tassels and metal fringe.
Givenchy New Line Bag
$5,450 via Bergdorf Goodman
This is Givenchy‘s biggest new release since the Lucrezia, and although it’s currently only available for pre-order in this white lizard version, I can’t wait to see all the variations that the brand surely has in store for this angular little bag.
Louis Vuitton Mini Trunks
We don’t yet have name or pricing information on these customizable mini trunks from Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2015 runway show quite yet, but they manage to be both classic and distinctive at once. They’ll become a status symbol, no doubt.
Mansur Gavriel Lady Bag
$1,195 via Barneys
Mansur Gavriel has launched two new shapes for Fall 2015, and the Lady Bag seems to be the more hotly anticipated. It’s a versatile, lightweight, roomy bag that’s perfect for the office, so it’s not hard to see why.
Michael Kors Audrey Large Tote
$1,190 via Neiman Marcus
Some handbag lovers like to cop attitude about Michael Kors, but the designer’s high-end line offers some really beautiful, classic bags at prices that aren’t bad, considering the other, similar options on the market. This new Audrey bag is beautiful and discreet.
Prada Inside Bag
As the Wall Street Journal notes, this bag is Prada‘s biggest accessories launch since the Galleria nearly a decade ago. The bag-in-bag design is a clever take on the compartments so many women covet in their work bags, and it comes in two sizes and lots of colors and leathers. When it hits stores, the smallest version will start at $2,415.
Saint Laurent High School Bag
$1,890 via Net-a-Porter
Hedi Slimane’s true talent as a designer might be in taking something you already like and making a perfect, luxurious version of it. This brand new throwback is evidence of exactly that.
Sophie Hulme Gibson Bucket Bag
$1,000 via farfetch.com
The Gibson may be what launches Hulme’s brand from cult favorite to mainstream mainstay. It’s simple and perfect, which makes it the best Mansur Gavriel alternative you’ll find.
Valentino B-Rockstud Flap Bag
$3,745 via Neiman Marcus
If Valentino‘s Lock Bag is too conspicuous for you, this more subtly studded alternative is the next place you should look.
The Michael Kors bag looks great. However, I get a Nina Ricci/Anya Hindmarch vibe from it. No one does minimalism with a quirk like Sophie Hulme.
Also, has any brand done a worse job than Michael Kors of separating the identity of the budget line from the main line? Most people can’t tell a difference between MICHAEL Michael Kors, KORS Michael Kors and Michael Kors. I feel this is discouraging many people from buying bags from the higher end line.
Definitely. They’re too similar in aesthetic too. Marc by Marc Jacobs vs Marc Jacobs worked much better because Marc by had its own identity.
it looks kinda like a watered down Reed Krakoff….nice but just saying..
I was under the impression, that the KORS Michael Kors line no longer exists…. it is just the MICHAEL Michael Kors and Michael Kors Collection lines now.
Hopefully, this will lead to Michael Kors Collection line gaining more attention.
How does Mansur Gavriel stay in business without having products for sale..?
Basic principles of supply and demand.
They have plenty for sale right now, do a search. And when there in hardly any overhead, I’m sure they are rolling in the dough.
they have products. they just sell them all.
I love the Michael Kors Collection bags. The leather and exotic skins are beautiful. The fact that they are made in Italy is a plus.
I really don’t get the appeal of the “Inside Bag”. Firstly, the shape is boxy and a little boring. When carried open it looks like you’ve stuffed your wash bag in it.
That Michael Kors bag is gorgeous in design AND color.
Right? It’s gorgeous. It comes in a navy/black combo that’s also really pretty, and it’s a perfect work bag. Kors hit this one out of the park.
Loving the high school bag! What sold me are the folds on the sides.
I would not shell out 1800+ for a MK bag. The new YSL bag looks pretty good!
I think that LV mini trunk is priced in the $30,000 range.

Thank God, I don’t really like any of them! 😉
I don’t even understand how anyone can pull off the LV mini trunk? I wouldn’t know where to begin on how to wear it! I think it would end up wearing me!! 🙂
Reminds me of the supply box for a manicurist that does home visits.
I’m really feeling the McQueen, Givenchy, and the Gavriel. In fact I think Givenchy has a real hit on their hands!
FALL!!!!
A Michael Kors bag over $1000 is like buying the most expensive house on the block. Sorry, the brand doesn’t justify the price for me. Nice looking bag for a pedestrian brand.
I agree
You realize that Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors (what every suburban mom has) are two very different things, right?
Yes I do understand.
The “suburban moms” have tainted the brand. It can be as high end as it comes, and Michael Kors is still looked at as elevated Coach.
Thats because it is an elevated coach. Don’t blame “the suburban moms” they have a lot more cash than you think!
I think Coach blows away Michael Kors ..his high, low and whatever end bag….
I completely agree. Paying anywhere near $1,000 for a Michael Kors bag is a waste unless you genuinely like the look of the bag. Paying that amount hoping to use it as a status symbol would be a joke of an investment.

I have seen them all come and go to the point where they all copy off of each other. Its like a which came first game the chicken or the egg. I adore the Valentino bag. Been there done that . Sick of going broke for these beauties that just make my closet look good. I am afraid to ruin them . So I do what everyone else does I sell them . Its a painful cycle I have learned alot.
Are you talking about me? lol
No the designers
I think they look even better with some scratches! Use them and let them make you look good, not your closet!
I like the look of Prada the best, but it doesn’t look all that new to warrant the “It”status. Plus, I have doubt about the practicality of the inner’s outter compartments and the fact that those zipper may grate on the leather of the inner bag. And to be frank, I need my hands free.
What? No Bottega?
If I could afford the LV mini trunk, I’d drop all my cash on that. Ever since I’ve seen Rihanna carry the bag I’ve lusted after it. So cool.
Mansur Lady bag is gorgeous! And I like the new St Laurent bag as well.
If the Louis V mini trunk came with a shoulder strap I would snatch it up. The 90s are back!!
