Introducing The Valentino Candystud Bag

The stud love is real once again

We already dubbed this design one of the bags to watch for Spring 2018, so naturally we had to get our hands on one, and just like candy, I’ve got a craving for the Valentino Candystud Bag. Season after season, Valentino finds new and exciting ways to reinvent it’s now-iconic Rockstuds, and new for Spring 2018, The Candystud Bag intrigues me. I’m not sure how exactly the brand came up with the Candystud name, but somehow it completely works, and Valentino now has me candy-crushing on Rockstuds once again.

The details on this bag are what really drew me in. I love everything from the quilted lambskin leather to the large studs that adorn the bag. We’ve seen quilted leather, often called matelessé, done over and over again by various different designers, including Valentino itself, but this bag does it differently. The quilted leather is exaggerated and pillow-like, which is kind of in-your-face, but in a fun way; I found myself really loving it at first glance. The contrasting pink leather ‘V’ is relatively understated for a logo bag, so much so that I missed it at first and simply thought it was your standard colorblock design. The bag comes in solid colors as well, but I love the edge of the colorblocked version more! The blush pink contrasts really nicely with the red.

The interior of this bag isn’t overly large, but it’s not tiny, either, and with overall dimensions of 9.1″ W x 6.9″ H x 4.3″ D, I was able to carry pretty much everything I needed for the day. I comfortably fit both my personal phone and my work phone, my trusty Ray-Ban sunglasses, a small wallet, a mini cosmetics case and a mini notebook. The bag comes with a detachable shoulder strap, and the interior features three different pockets! The back interior has a zip pocket, while the front interior has a slit pocket with two separate sides. The back exterior also has a slit pocket, which I found great for storing my MetroCard because it was super easy to access without having to open and close the bag’s secure turnlock closure. The Valentino colorblock Candystud retails for $2,995 via Valentino while the solid Candystud retails for $2,875 via Net-a-Porter.
