We’re a couple days late on this story because we were hoping to have pictures for you, but no such luck. Instead, we’ll have to use our imaginations to figure out what Mulberry‘s line for use discount retailer Target will look like.

The collection, slated for release October 10, makes the British brand the latest in a long line of designers that have collaborated with Target for capsule lines of clothes, bags and shoes. What makes this particular set of bags interesting, however, is that the bags will reportedly be made of materials like denim and velvet, avoiding the PVC-heavy purses that we’ve seen in the past.

I’ve always hated the waxy texture and chemical smell of PVC, so I’m hopeful that the use of something other than fake leather will elevate these bags above some of the previous handbag collections that we’ve seen at Target. Are you excited about this collection? We’ll post pictures as soon as they come our way.

P.S. Please consider supporting our small, bag-loving team by clicking our links before shopping or checking out at your favorite online retailers like Amazon, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, or any of the listed partners on our shop page. We truly appreciate your support!

I’m very excited about this. I really liked the design of the Botkier bags, but hated the PVC, so hopefully avoiding the leather look entirely will make these bags look good. Can’t wait to see pictures.

Ooo, sounds very exciting. I can’t wait to see the collection, I’ll probably pick up one or two of the pieces once they arrive at Target.

I still have my Botkier for Target handbag. I didn’t find those to smell, but I think that they were made of material instead of faux leather.
All of the other handbag collaborations have been awful to me. The Falchi one being the worse. Those bags looked cheap.
Excited to see Mulberry, and I hope that they don’t disappoint.

Add this to the 10 million reasons I love Target, please! I’m really interested in seeing what Mulberry comes up with, I’m rarely ‘wowed’ by the discounted bag lines that come to Target, but the clothing lines NEVER disappoint. I hope they make a few things I like!

the sad thing about the target collabos is that everyone knows and can recognize that your bag is from a target collaboration

      My reply’s a bit late. :P

But nevertheless, I agree. I mean it says clearly on the clasp, Mulberry for Target. Did they HAVE to say Target? Especially engraved. Ugh.

I’m not impressed by what I’ve lately seen of Mulberry bags. When I first saw the blue Sasha bag, I think it was, here on purse blog, I thought it was gorgeous. But after I saw a Sasha bag ( a leopard-looking, leather print one, as that’s all that was left) at the Mulberry boutique in Paris, a few months ago, I was no longer impressed.

I had also checked out the Proenza Schouler PS1, at Barney’s Beverly Hills, and liked it much better. The Sasha bag that I saw didn’t look like it merited anywhere near its price tag…not that the Proenza merits its price tag either. They’re all over priced. But, at least I adore the PS1. It reminds me of my first European schoolbook bag that I bought in Europe, back in the 70s, and brought back to L.A. to use during my university years. All of my European friends had similar style schoolbags back then. So, to have it in a handbag to me is great. I’m still considering one.

The fabric sounds good. I have hated the look of the faux leather.

What? No way! I am so far beyond thrilled. The Carlos Falchi collaboration was very disappointing to me, so I have high hopes for this one!

you just can’t make me love a mulberry. you just can’t

I wonder if they will do a Bayswater…I might have to get it as I don’t love it enough to pay $$$$ for it, but I would pay $ for it. Can’t wait for the lookbook and pics. We have a long while to wait!
