The Council of Fashion Designers of America is a great organization – not only does it nurture young American design talent through grants and other programs, but it unites the American fashion industry behind the cause of fabulousness. Every year, the CFDA comes together to honor the creme de la creme américain, and it reserves one CFDA Award in particular for excellence in accessories. The group announced the 2012 nominees on Wednesday night, and you might recognize their work above. If not, we’ll fill you in after the jump and you can vote in our poll on who should win the prize!
And the nominees are drumroll

Alexander Wang – shop his work via ShopBop
(He won last year.)

Wow, really great nominees here. I can’t say who should win, they’ve all done such a fantastic job!
Always these big names – I wish they would showcase some less well-known accessory designers that are amazing.
I agree, they are always big names!! It is not as exciting and always pretty predictable. Boring!!
Where is Donatella Versace? 🙂
celine or chloè, surely not PS who use always the same shape for their bags!!!!
Yeah, because clearly one thinks of Celine or Chloe when thinking of “American designer”.
I hope Jack & Lazaro win! I like Alexander Wang as well but I feel like when it comes to accessories they are kind of hit or miss and they don’t have the level of detail that PS has.
Jerome Dreyfuss for the ettienne bag. The most perfect convertible bag ever!
..Where’s Marc Jacobs?
MARC JACOBS!!!!!!!!! Or VALENTINO!!!!!!! I think KARL LAGERFELD should also be added though. But I totally root for ALEXANDER WANG, Chinese pride!!!!!!!!
the awards are for american designers. So valentino or karl wouldn’t be included.
Jack & Lazaro, for sure. they do a bag that no one ever designed before. If you ever own a PS1, you are amazed with every single details of the bag. although the look are the same, they are creating different version of PS1 bags by using different fabrication and leather, different degree of washing……..
the leather dye technic is perfection.
