Admittedly, when it comes to designer handbags I can count on two hands the brands that live in the forefront of my mind (whether I own one of each of them or not). And at any given moment, not only do I have a list of bags that I want to buy, but in my mind lives a list containing a plethora of bags I’m intrigued by. All of these bags tend to fall within the same brands, leaving other luxury brands in the background of my thoughts. One of those brands used to be Miu Miu.
I often overlooked Miu Miu bags as a brand to purchase from, and I couldn’t even tell you why. I’ve seen many a Miu Miu bags I’ve loved and would love to own, but when I’m considering laying out money for a bag, Miu Miu, more often than not, slipped my mind. That’s changed recently, and as of late, I can’t get my mind off of Miu Miu.
A Miu Miu Moment
If you’re a fashion or even a pop-culture lover, then it’s likely that you too, cannot get Miu Miu off the brain. The little sister of Prada, named after Miuccia Prada herself, Miu Miu has been in the headlines and all over social media lately thanks to that viral low-rise skirt set worn by the likes of Emily Ratajakowski, Hailey Bieber, Euphoria’s Hunter Schaefer, and every fashion girl at fashion week. But don’t call it a comeback, because Miu Miu has always been a go-to for no-fuss fashion girls looking for RTW and accessories that are playful, unique and fun. With fashion’s continued resurgences of youth culture and Y2K fashion, it’s no surprise that Miu Miu is having a major moment.
As for the bags, when Miu Miu debuted its Miu Belle line back in 2020, it was apparent that the brand was making its way back into the spotlight. I loved the ladylike look of the kiss-lock bag and the brand’s signature matelassé leather. Many brands have a signature, something that is so inherently their’s that when you see it you think of one brand and one brand only. For Miu Miu, that’s matelassé. And it’s that part of the brand’s iconic DNA that I can’t get out of my head.
Particularly, there’s the new Miu Miu Wander bag, which is crafted from regenerated nylon produced from recycled materials collected from the ocean. The Miu Wander bag takes the traditional hobo shape to new heights with the brand’s classic matelassé quilting. It’s available in an array of fun colors and it is equal parts lady-like and sporty, which works perfectly with my aesthetic and is the Miu Miu bag that’s on the top of my wishlist.
