While raffia for summer isn’t groundbreaking (nor is florals for spring), designers have been able to bring this otherwise simple material to a new luxurious level. This is the summer of raffia bags and I’ve already shared some of my favorites, but it’s time to add two new bags to the mix. The beloved Louis Vuitton summer collection, aptly named Louis Vuitton By The Pool, already had its first drop, and the second drop happened recently with a new batch of summer lust-worthy items.
The Capucines handbag continues to be one of the most iconic for the house. For this collection, the Capucines is dressed in delicate tweed featuring raffia, cotton ribbons, and silvery threads. This combination offers a luxe take on the summer raffia trend, and these bags feel and appear very elevated.
Louis Vuitton’s New Summery Edition
The mix of materials comes together with different colors and materials, allowing this bag to go from your average summer item to a much more elegant version. There are two sizes, the larger MM and smaller BB, given this treatment with different colorways, including navy, which utilizes navy and white raffia, cotton ribbons, metallic silvery threads, and a fringed finish at the top of the bag. The leather handle and strap are crafted from durable and grained Taurillon leather. The smaller BB size offers the same materials and finish but in a mix of beige, white, and warm gold.
The Capucines is already a beloved style, and every other aspect of the bag mirrors that of the bag you already know and love. There is a leather top handle to carry the bag by hand or in the crux of your elbow. There is also an optional shoulder strap, a wide leather strap, so it doesn’t feel dainty and always feels secure while being carried. I must note the strap is not adjustable, which may mean you need to try it and see how it sits on your body to ensure you like where the bag hangs.
The Capucines’ Interior
The interior of the bag is spacious, even in the smaller size. You’ll find a compartmented interior with a zipped pocket and a snap hook to secure belongings. The front flap easily slides back into place to offer more of a secure closure but remains easy to flip open to find your items inside.
Of course, there are ample versions of the Capucines, but this may be my new favorite. Keep in mind I live in a tropical year-round area, so these colorways (which feel less season-specific and can be used more year-round) and materials will never feel out of style.
