I spent last week in Florida for what was supposed to be a last hurrah of summer; the only problems with that plan were Tropical Storm Isaac and a wicked cold I brought from New York. What was supposed to be a week of fun in the sun ended up being a week of rest inside, but that meant more time with my family and more time to shop online. Before I left for Florida, I went to the Gucci NYC Flagship to check out their new stirrup collection and I was hooked. From the more structured options to the soft stirrup, there is something for everyone and every different lifestyle. While I ended up adding a new Gucci bag to my collection (post to come soon), there was another bag on my radar that I would have liked to add; the only problem was the price tag.

What isn’t a problem is the absolute beauty of the Gucci Soft Stirrup Bag in blue crocodile – a slight bit of slouch on an absolutely divine exotic is a magnificent pair.

I already talked a bit about the Gucci icons and this bag is perfectly suited for iconic status. I’ve always been drawn to slouchy bags for their ease of use and casual appeal, and having that finished with a soft crocodile skin adds a wonderful unexpected touch. The hardware is what makes this bag iconic, with its equestrian nod in antique gold. The good news is while the hardware helps make this bag what it is, it also doesn’t overpower. This is the sort of bag I dream of and it has a price tag a price tag that dreams are made of. Buy via Gucci for $29,900.

Beautiful bag….it is also really nice in brocade and a little easier on the pocketbook at $2300.00.

Why is croc so vastly higher priced? Is there some big shortage or are the hides so bad you can only get one or two bags from one? I get that there are far more cows for leather, but the amount is staggering for croc.

because crocs are more expensive to maintain on breeding fars e.g. food they consume on a daily basis; theyre more dangerous to handle e.g. eggs are hard to find since they bury their eggs and its very dangerous for keepers becuase the mother crocs are super protective of their eggs; and only the belly and cheeks of the crocs are used -since their backs are too scaly -to make the bags so you need more than one croc to make a bag! so put that all together and the prices of these exquisite pieces are justified. its hard work ay!

I like the soft croc version of this bag! I do wonder about the size – isn’t it a bit overpowering?
