The seemingly instant rise to become one of Gucci’s cornerstone bags was swift for the Gucci Horsebit 1955. From the moment this bag was introduced by the House, it became beloved by many, and though it is technically a new design, the many archival notes that create the bag are anything but new.
The Gucci Horsebit, a double ring, and bar with equestrian roots, ties back to the brand’s House codes, having been utilized for decades on everything from bags to shoes and clothing. The Horsebit 1955 line grows with new renditions, including smaller sizes, East/West shapes, and top handles as well. There are new colors being offered, like this light green as well as this light blue lizard version as well.
In fact, I own two versions of the classic style myself (and reviewed one here, which still is used often in my collection) and never plan on parting with either. If anything, this line will only continue to grow and expand, so now is a great time to add one to your collection!
Has anyone noticed that the 1955 Horsebit shoulder bag and mini are the same price? Both have leather straps. Is there a reason for this?
The two straps. I have the shoulder bag and its a true shoulder bag. You can wear it cross body but it will sit up high. The strap is not removable either. The mini is a true cross body and both straps reflect that.
The mini includes the nylon web strap as well, but I would personally want the bigger bag for the money. Crazy to me that it’s the same price, but I’ve been told by SA’s that it’s just as “hard” if not harder to produce mini versions. Prada actually has some mini bags that cost more than their larger counterparts. I feel like these design houses are having the last laugh as they count their profits.
I love this line. I also love that zebra print blouse in the first picture.
