GUCCIFY Yourself With GUCCY(i)’s Newest Bags

Insanely cool and street-style ready we are seriously obsessed with Gucci's newest print

It’s not often that I find myself speechless when trying to describe a collection of bags, but with Gucci’s newest bags, that’s exactly what I am. I’m at a loss for words with these bags, other than that they’re just so, well…cool. They’re super fun and super 80s, and if you’re feeling nostalgic, there’s a reason why—the graphic print on these play-on-words bags was inspired by the SEGA logo. I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I love these bags because they remind me of my youth. I’m a child of the 90s, and truth be told, I had to google ‘SEGA’ to find out what it is. When I texted my brother—a true 80s baby, born in 1980—a photo of the bag and said what does this remind you of he at first said he didn’t know, but then with a prompt he said it did look like the SEGA logo. Did Gucci get it right? I’m undecided, but what I do know is that I’m mildly obsessed with these fun, almost galactic-feeling bags, and I need one like my life depends on it.

Gucci created a few bags, as well as some other fun pieces like clothing and sneakers, as part of this collection, though we shot the mini shoulder bag and the portfolio. The portfolio is bold and makes a big statement, but my favorite piece of this SEGA-inspired pie is the mini shoulder bag we shot. While the interior of this bag is tiny (it’s broken up into two small compartments with a very thin interior middle zip pocket—I fit in sunglasses and a small card case along with a few other miscellaneous things), it works fine for me because these days—as I’ve said before—I’ve totally streamlined what it is that I carry day to day.

The Guccy shoulder bag is out there, but I love it, and I want to wear this all summer long with my favorite jeans, basic tees, and sneakers or sandals. I love how fun and eye-catching this bag is. However, I also know that it’s not for everyone. The Guccy shoulder bag has an adjustable strap, so it can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody. This metallic leather bag is lined in silk and accented by antique, palladium-toned hardware. Overall dimensions are 7″H x 6.5″W x 3″D and you can get your starry-eyed fix for $1,790 via Gucci.

Next up, we got a good look at the Guccy Portfolio. Inspired by ancient Florentine books, the Guccy Portfolio is made of leather and accented with a metallic gold print, just like its little sister bag. The portfolio resembles leather-bound covers, and while I don’t know if I would make much use of it, it’s a really cool statement piece for the right person. The portfolio has a gusseted, accordion-like shape, with a flap top and an engraved lock closure. This piece is definitely for the girl (or guy!) who wants to see and be seen. Overall dimensions are 8.5″H x 12″W x 1.5″D, and it retails for $3,400 via Gucci.
