Currently Coveting These Gucci Shoulder Bags

And they are all right around $1,000

My love for bags runs deep. Deep enough to start an entire website about bags, deep enough to continue this career for 15 years, and deep enough to still be enamored and find myself coveting new bags (even though I have a closet full of bags that aren’t getting much use right now). Yesterday I was chatting with a friend who I haven’t seen in a long time and she shared that she was eyeing a new bag too, and commented the same thing: “It’s not like I’m carrying my bags but I am fixated on getting a new one!”. I laughed, she laughed, and then we talked about what bag she should get.

So when I tell you I don’t need a new bag but I keep coming back to see these Gucci bags, I think you’ll get me too. Hands free bags are the way to go at all times, but especially now. I love a bag that I can sling right over my shoulder and put into constant rotation in my collection, and these Gucci Shoulder Bags fit the bill.

For all of the structured bags brands continue to release, I find myself drawn toward the opposite style bag, one that is more casual and easy. That matches my inherent style as it is, but it does so even more with the focus on the work from home look and athleisure takeover. I first found the more classic version of this bag, the Gucci Ophidia GG Small Shoulder Bag and did a double take because of the price. The bag comes in at just under $1,000, at $980, and while the word small is in the name, it is sized really well (the model is 5’9 on the site for reference). The bag pairs classic House elements including the GG motif, Web stripe, and the Double G hardware. The hobo bag is one of the most underrated and underrepresented bag shapes (we just covered some of the best hobos, as you can see we think the shape is having a moment) and I am always fond of a good hobo bag because of its easy to carry and use design.

The nice thing about this bag is the adjustable shoulder strap with a 16.9″ drop as well as a smaller but plenty-large-to-carry-your-daily-needs size, 11.8″W x 8.7″H x 2.2″D. I am constantly on the hunt for a bag that carries what I need without weighing me down or being too large to find anything inside, and this bag is quite lovely. Buy via Gucci for $980.

While the more classic version caught my eye first (again for an amazing price as well as design), if you know the tote I’ve been carrying a ton recently you’ll know that the Gucci Flora print is probably one of my favorites on the bag market. This Gucci GG Flora Shoulder Bag is a bit larger than the one I mentioned above, with dimensions of 13.4″W x 9″H x 1.6″D and a 17.7″ drop with the adjustable shoulder strap. The House Flora pattern sits atop the GG print and is offset by white leather trim. It’s dreamy, it’s magical, and it makes me happy. Buy via Gucci for $1,190.

If you love this shape but want to go bolder, there’s an option for you as well. Gucci reintroduced this archival Baiadera stripe print fabric in blue, red, yellow and green striped linen canvas with a washed effect that showcases the texture of the fabric while also making the bag appear worn in (in a good way). Red leather detailing offsets the fabric along with a circle of leather in the center of the bag with a Gucci script logo. This bag is also a bit larger, with a longer drop of 18.5″ and overall dimensions of 13.4″W x 9″H x 1.6″D (same as the flora print above). Buy via Gucci for $1,190.
