There’s a reason why Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton are considered the Holy Trinity of the handbag world. Not only are they three of the most well-known luxury bag brands, but they also produce some of the handbag world’s most coveted (and most expensive) bags.
Most handbag lovers dream of owning a bag from at least one of the trio in their early days of collecting, and rightfully so. However, as a collector’s knowledge expands, so does the sheer breadth of options available. The market becomes vast once you’re familiar with the ins and outs, but many collectors still tend to stick to a certain rotation of brands that fit their needs and aesthetics.
While my personal style varies from day to day, depending on my mood, there are some brands I tend to forget about or simply don’t prioritize as much as I do other brands. One of those brands is Givenchy. Creator of some of the early aughts cult favorites like the Antigona, Nightingale, and Pandora, the Givenchy of today is a bit slept on, admittedly, IMHO.
Sophisticated Edge for the Downtown Cool Girl
Givenchy had lost its way for a few years, but under the direction of now-departed creative director Matthew Williams, the brand has slowly regained a notable presence in the handbag world. Matthew Williams’ Givenchy is modern and distinct with a bit of edge, and there are a lot of great bags available right now.
There’s the relaxed but cool Voyou Bag, which remains an essential part of the brand’s line-up and has been reimagined in new shapes and sizes. Also upping the brand’s cool factor is the newly introduced Antigona Cube, which makes its debut for Pre-Fall 2024 as part of Matthew Williams’ last collection.
While the brand is currently in a transitional phase, its handbags are worthy of a second look thanks to their cool vibe and relaxed aesthetic. Plus in the grand scheme of out of control prices rising well into the 3 and even 4-thousands, Givenchy’s bags are fairly well-priced.

Love the nano cube! And their prices aren’t totally insane yet
Givenchy bags are getting worse and worse.
I have 3 older Givenchy bags-Nightingale, Pandora and the Infinity Bucket-and bought them preloved. I’m obsessed with them! The leather is gorgeous, and I just love the chunky hardware.
Is the nightingale heavy? The Pandora isn’t but wondering about the Nightingale before I buy it. I can’t use heavy bags.
The ones with a thick shoulder strap – the one with a zip – can be heavy. The later edition ones are not so heavy.
These bags are genuinely hideous.
I sold my monogram entry bags when I discovered this brand starting with the Antigona blue croc. I travel with it and it still looks new. The lining the zippers the dust bag the leather inner pockets everything is superior to bags I’ve purchased at thrice the cost. When I get an itch I go for Givenchy.
