Chloé Adds New Shapes to Its Marcie Line Up for Fall 2023

An emblematic fan-favorite, the Marcie gets a refresh

Chloé Marcie Bucket Bag

First hitting the handbag scene back in 2009, the Chloé Marcie has transcended decades, remaining a mainstay for the French Maison, resisting murky economic waters, changing creative directors, and fashion’s fickle trends.

Like the Chloé Paddington, often cited as one of the original It-bags of the early aughts, the Marcie bag quickly won the hearts of fashion lovers and handbag collectors, becoming one of the Maison’s most emblematic shapes. Its curved lines, iconic leather tab closure, and equestrian details remain a beloved choice for handbag lovers still to this day, nearly 15 years after its original release.

Rooted in history, the Marcie’s equestrian feel pays homage to Chloé’s bohemian spirit, and it’s that rich brand DNA that remains within the latest additions, which is expanded upon for Fall 2023.

More Marcies

Gabriela Hearst revisits the Marcie for inspiration once again, perfectly combining a Chloé classic with a modern spirit. Two notable silhouettes hit the scene, both possessing the unmistakable #ChloéGirl feel, blending a feminine aesthetic with a 70s folk spirit while offering a fresh take on an old favorite.

First up, a new Bucket bag hits the scene for the Fall season. Crafted from the Maison’s soft, grained calfskin, this roomy day bag features one main compartment. Its simple bucket bag shape is accented with details that pair back to the original Marcie line. Contrasting leather belts accent the bag, and it is finished with original Marcie gold hardware detailing. Plus, the hand-braided top handle is integral to the Marcie line. Overall dimensions are 9.4″ L x 10.2″ W x 5.9″ D.

If you’re looking for a smaller, more transitional shape, there’s the Marcie Chain Flap. Blending feminine elegance with Chloé craft, the Marcie Chain Flap features a small half-moon shape. Blending textural leather with smooth leather and suede sides, the bag’s tactile handle and distinct front closure make it feel quintessentially Chloé. Finished with a removable chain strap allowing for shoulder or crossbody wear, this silhouette can be worn day or night. Inside there’s one main compartment and a slit pocket. Overall dimensions are 6.2″ L x 8.9″ W x 2.8″ D.

Was very excited, Marcie is my favourite. I would have struggled to place these as Marcie range.

I really like it but I just can’t see paying 2k for a bucket bag unless it’s really unique

Tina

Still much cheaper than Louis Vuitton.

Yes. You’d be spending more than $2000 for a NeoNoe in signature canvas with LV. I would much rather have nice leather and no logos for the money.

This doesn’t look any more special than my Coach bucket bag.

Kaly

Or a classic Dooney & Bourke bucket for a quarter of the price!

Samantha

It looks like the same old, same old bucket bag, but for a helluva lot of $! The chain flap? It has all of the elements of a bag that I dislike. G.H. is just not the right person for the job!

Marcie bags are amazing – I love my mini marcie and want a small classic marcie but these don’t look like the marcie range to me somehow. A bit underwhelmed lately by chloe and it makes me sad cause they used to be my fave. I loved the ranges they had about four or five years ago. The C bag etc.

Reminds me of my very well made vintage coach bucket bag which I love. They look beautiful but expensive
