While some brands chose to forgo showing in London following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the creative genius behind Loewe and his namesake label, JW Anderson, decided that for JWA, the Women’s Spring 2023 show would go on. The reasoning behind this decision was more selfless than selfish, as it was JW Anderson himself who made the decision to go on with showing for the “sake of small brands who couldn’t afford to cancel,” Vogue reported. Presented in London’s Soho district, guests were wowed by the setting: a Vegas-style gambling arcade, literally called the Las Vegas Arcade Soho, located next to JW Anderson’s flagship store.
The collection was as outlandish and jovial as the setting in which it was presented. An assembly of fun metallics, bold graphics, and outlandish silhouettes, the collection is juxtaposed by romantic, lingerie-inspired silk dresses with lace trim. As for the bags, JW Anderson’s newest designs took center stage, like the Twister Bag and the Bumper Bag. The Bumper Bag, which was released last season, continues to be a favorite of the celeb set, introduced once again this fall in new colorways.
The Bumper Bag Remains
On the runway, the bag continues to be a push for Spring 2023, shown in a wide variety of sizes and styles. An adorable micro version proves JW Anderson believes ultra-minis are here to stay, and crystal versions make a bold statement, while a raffia iteration is perfect for the warm weather months. The Bumper is a bag we keep coming back to, and the runway proves it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
