A beaded, boxy shoulder bag first introduced in 2019, the STAUD Tommy bag has remained a coveted staple in the brand’s lineup ever since.
It first became viral when supermodel Kendall Jenner was spotted with an animal-print version draped over her shoulder later that year. Then, the pandemic hit, but against all odds, the Tommy Bag catapulted to virality.
Since its original debut, the Tommy has become an icon for the brand. New iterations are released that coincide with the specific time of year each season. From florals for spring and veggies for fall to stripes for summer and more, there’s a Tommy for every season (and mood).
Still, few iterations were as coveted as the insanely quick-to-sell-out Tomato version, which went viral last summer, along with the cheeky Staudines beaded Tommy, which begged to be worn on the Italian Riviera.

It-Bag at an It-Price
While the mere mention of an It bag typically brings to mind waitlists, scarcity, and a four-figure price tag, the Tommy is the rare exception. Its youthful appeal feels of-the-moment and fun without being overly garish or kitschy. Striking this balance is incredibly difficult with a novelty bag, especially one at the contemporary price point.
STAUD launched with the mission that fashion should empower women and be accessible, and the Tommy bag follows that same ethos. The bag remains a best seller for the brand, and this summer, its most viral, most wanted versions are back, along with fresh fun versions that will delight, including a Hot Dog print that is already sold out, but my favorite is the Beach Bums Tommy.
I already have a floral version of the Tommy Bag from last year, but I might have to pull the trigger on the Tomato version, which sold out before I could snag it last summer!

So outdated
I saw the Staudines bag in Nordstrom today. It’s really cute. It’s also heavier than I thought it would be.
