Bottega Veneta Gets Pretty With Pastels for Its Spring 2018 Bags

Darling details are the icing on the cake with these beautiful bags

We got our first glimpse of Bottega Veneta’s Spring 2018 bags back in September when the brand debuted a creative and colorful new direction for its bags in NYC. Fast Forward a few months, and I was able to preview the bags in person when BV invited me to its seasonal press preview. In a sea of colorful and extraordinarily detailed bags, I was immediately drawn to one beautiful bag in particular: The Intrecciato Wingtip City Knot Bag.

While we’ve covered versions of the City Knot Bag before, this one was unlike any I had ever seen. I was drawn to the intricate, overtly feminine details of the bag, and while I am lusting after it in Cement—a neutral, of course—I can’t get over how beautiful it is in the lilac. As a kid, and even up until I left home, my bedroom walls were always painted a pastel shade of purple, and this bag tugs at the heartstrings of that little girl! Though my current wardrobe doesn’t quite hold a place for a lilac bag, there’s still a part of me that just can’t get over how beautiful it is.

This limited-edition City Knot is crafted in French calf leather and finished with Bottega Veneta’s beloved and iconic City Knot closure. Like its predecessors, this version of the City Knot features an accordion gusset and three interior compartments, making this bag not only stunning, but insanely functional as well. The strap can be worn single over the shoulder or doubled to be held by hand. Inside, there is also one slit pocket in the back compartment. Overall dimensions of The Intrecciato Wingtip City Knot Bag are 6.3″ L x 10.8″ W x 3.5″ D, and the bag retails for $5,500 via Bottega Veneta.

For spring, BV also introduced an updated—and also perfectly pastel—version of its beloved Olimpia bag, The Intrecciato Checker Olimpia Knot Bag. This Olimpia bag is a muted, gorgeous shade of peach, which is accented by Bottega’s classic woven leather.

This version is unique in that it features contrasting nappa and ayers leather. It’s stunning in peach, but it’s also available in a pale yellow and an off-white hue called Mist. Like the City Knot above, this bag also features delicate detailing, and perforated leather trim accents the woven leather. The twist knot lock is distinctly Bottega, and it was inspired by the brand’s signature jewelry. The lock, as well as the chain strap, is crafted from dark gold-tone metal, leaving a sleek, matte finish. The chain on the Olimpia is a bit thicker and less delicate than the chain on the City Knot.

Inside, the bag is broken into two separate compartments, and unlike the City Knot Bag, it isn’t super-structured. The strap can be worn over the shoulder single, or doubled to be hand carried. The bag has one zippered pocket, which is located on the back interior. Overall dimensions of The Intrecciato Checker Olimpia Knot Bag are 6.3″ L x 10.6″ W x 4.3″ D, and it retails for $4,950 via Bottega Veneta.
