When Louise Trotter debuted her first collection for Bottega Veneta for the Spring/Summer 2026 season, it was instantly clear that she was the best choice to succeed Matthieu Blazy.
The House found itself in a period of transition — a familiar state in today’s shifting fashion landscape — but that transitional state is quickly coming to a close as Trotter’s first collection hits stores.
As the first woman to lead Bottega Veneta since Laura Braggion, who guided the brand from the 1980s through the early 2000s, Trotter has honored the House’s rich heritage while confidently asserting her own vision.
Trotter’s Bottega signals a new chapter that feels both respectful of the past and firmly rooted in the present, and the House’s newest bag, the Veneta, is the perfect embodiment of this.
Introducing the Veneta Bag
Bottega Veneta’s eponymous new bag, the Veneta, officially debuts today, carrying the brand’s legacy and core DNA in everything from its soft construction to its signature Intrecciato woven leather and super-soft nappa leather.
The Veneta’s roots can be traced all the way back to the 1970s and a silhouette that was designed by the House’s co-founder, Renzo Zengiaro. The shape was then reintroduced in 2002, and it was at that time that the bag was given the name Veneta, cementing itself as an icon in modern handbag history.

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato, which has had a massive renaissance in the 2020s, has re-cemented its place in the handbag world, and the Veneta combines the soft, slouchy hobo shape that has ruled the handbag world in recent years with a classic appeal. Its padded, soft interior adds a tactile cool-girl appeal.
Style, Craft, and Function
The overall result is a modern, fresh take on an archival silhouette with the under-the-radar, quiet appeal that Bottega Veneta is founded on — and we are obsessed!
The Veneta is designed for everyone, transcending style and generations. It is simple in appeal but undeniably stylish, available in four sizes from baby to maxi, and crafted from lambskin, just like the original design. Also a nod to the archives, the Veneta is lined in lightweight lambskin, a testament to Bottega Veneta’s unmatched quality and craft.
In addition to multiple sizes, the Veneta arrives in a staggering 11 colors. Discover some of the Veneta’s many celebrity fans and shop our our favorites below. To view the full Veneta family, visit Bottega Veneta.com.

jacob looks the best with this bag
These used to cost $1,500 hahahaha
The fetuccia (leather woven straps) on this new veneta are padded and not raw cut as on normal intrecciato. This costs a lot more.
Drinking the kool aid I see.
No idea what that means, but if you know a bit regarding the industrialisation process of these bags, you would understand better where these prices come from. Obviously they have a big margin, but compaired to other brands that use cheap leathers or even canvas and don’t have the workmanship (woven in italy) as BV, it does justify a bit. You can’t compair prices from 15 years ago with the prices now…
I m a former BV employee…
“Drinking the kool aid” is a reference to Jim Jones and Jonestown. Years ago he was the leader of the Jonestown cult where he convinced his over 900 followers to drink poisoned kool aid, including over 300 children. You can research it for more information, but it was horrific and not easily forgotten.
Crazy ain’t it?
It’s cute of course but it’s too similar to every other bag that they sell. Like the Hop.
I am not a fan of Louise trotter’s Bottega output so far.
Her clothes are for the runway not real life, and her bags are cumbersome. The Veneta is too stiff with the padded leather and the shoulder strap on the medium and small is too short, whilst the large is huuuuge. The Barbara is just plain huge.
I miss Blazy.
it was her first collection for BV, so it’s hard to tell. but I personally was not feeling it at all. It was very Blazy light. I honestly wish he just stayed with BV. Chanel is fine and all, but he turned Bottega into something so exceptionally exquisite, that I can’t see anybody else really repeating what he did for the brand. It’s not as though I had Bottega or Chanel money (yet), so my opinion really doesn’t matter all that much, but still…
Don’t know about the bag but adore that first intrecchiato jacket…stunning
The collar!! ❣️
My black maxi Veneta has been resting in my closet for a while. I guess it’s time to take her for a stroll.
Well stroll on over to my house because I’ve wanted one for so long but can’t pull the trigger, not even in resale.
