Over the last few seasons, the east/west silhouette has quietly cemented itself as one of the most influential handbag trends. From Alaïa’s viral Le Teckel to elongated interpretations of Bottega Veneta’s Andiamo, more designers have embraced the stretched proportions, recasting their signature It-bags in a sleeker, more directional form.
The momentum shows no sign of waning, with quietly luxe designs from Khaite and Toteme leading the pack. Even Chanel and Hermès have hopped aboard the trend, underscoring the silhouette’s staying power.
The East–West Silhouette’s Staying Power
Love it or loathe it, the east–west bag packs a punch in style.
Defined by its long, linear profile, the shape offers a refined alternative to more traditional proportions, with the east/west trend continuing to rule through 2026.
This season, I’m coming back to Magda Butrym’s Brigitte Trapeze bag, which was just given a stunning update for Pre-Spring 2026, popping up in bold blue suede with Butrym’s signature handmade rose charm dangling from the elongated handles.
A Closer Look at Magda Butrym’s Brigitte
If you’re unfamiliar with Magda Butrym, the designer’s eponymous label is defined by its distinctive details—pleating, embroidery, and crochet—meticulous, hand-finished touches that set the brand apart.
The Polish designer, who launched her first collection in 2014, added bags to her lineup in the summer of 2022, and they have quietly become a go-to for the fashion set, defined, too, by Butrym’s signature attention to detail.
The Brigitte shoulder bag, inspired by ’90s nostalgia and featuring the same distinct appeal as the east/west trend, has become a staple for the brand. This suede version has me giving it a second look.
What do you think?

It’s very pretty, but not sure how they justify that price when the lining is cloth and no mirror. For a few hundred more, I would go with the Le Teckel.
I love the bag, I still don’t like this price!
