Are Ombre Bags The Next It-Thing?

Prada, Loewe, and Coach seem to think so...

When Prada presented its fall 2022 collection, I immediately felt a wave of nostalgia set in. Some of the bags were reminiscent of the extremely popular Ombre Glace bags from the 2000s. This wasn’t at all surprising given the tendency of archival inspirations these days, but what I didn’t quite expect was for ombre to become prevalent again in the months following. However, lately, it’s been popping up more and more, despite ombre being a notoriously difficult technique to nail, especially on leather.

Ombre Obsessed

With ombre, the color transition has to be done just right in order to achieve that specifically blended technique without appearing streaky or too close to color-blocked. When done correctly, the proper gradient reveals a stunningly unique bag, and lately, it seems that both premium and contemporary designers alike are trying their hand at ombre. Ombre comes and goes from season to season, likely because of its difficulty to execute. While Prada’s bags have yet to launch, many other brands are getting a jump start on this micro trend. Will it fully take off? Only time will tell, but if you’re ready to sink your teeth into ombre, check out the bags we’ve found so far below!
