Throwback Thursday: The Hottest Gifts of 2015

Here's what was on everyone's wishlist a decade ago...

Fendi Micro Peekaboo

The year was 2015. The world met Caitlyn Jenner, and millennials everywhere were obsessed with two things: the dog Snapchat filter and overlining their lips with Kylie Lip Kits. Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ ruled clubs everywhere, the first Apple Watch debuted, and families spent their holidays arguing whether that dress was blue and black or white and gold.

As for fashion, it was the year that athleisure ruled, Joan Didion became a C(é)line icon, Balmain went bold with its buzzed-about H&M collab, and Alessandro Michele’s transformation at Gucci began.

It’s hard to believe that 2015 was a decade ago, but the calendar doesn’t lie. Today, on this Throwback Thursday, in light of the holiday season, we’ve pored over the top gift guides from a decade ago to bring you the products that we all apparently had to have ten years ago.

Were any of these hot items on your list in 2015?

Fendi Micro Peekaboo

Fendi launched the teeny, tiny Micro Peekaboo, sending shoppers into a tailspin. Still, the bag was one of the most sought-after of the year, selling out repeatedly and sparking a micro bag revolution of sorts. Even Vogue declared the Fendi Micro Peekaboo the It-bag of 2015.

Illesteva Leonard Mirrored Sunglasses

Mirrored sunglasses were a defining accessory for bloggers in 2015. That and a thin black choker. While Ray-Bans and other popular mirrored lenses were right on trend, few pairs showed up on as many gift guides as the Illesteva Leonard Sunglasses.

Le Labo The Noir 29 Perfume

One of my favorite scents was the hot new thing in 2015, joining the Le Labo lineup on the heels of its cult-favorite Santal 33, which, at the time, was four years old and gaining major steam among the downtown fashion set. The musky scent channels the scent of black tea leaves, bergamot and cedarwood. A decade later, it’s still making gift lists.

Apple Watch First Generation

While it may feel like the Apple Watch has been around forever, as mentioned above, this year it celebrated a double-digit anniversary! The first Apple Watch was released in April 2015, completely changing the way we view watches. As is true for any new Apple product, it was a highly sought-after item for the 2015 holiday season.

Anything Furry

Fendi’s Bag Bugs had a significant moment in 2014. However, the super-covetable and incredibly hard-to-purchase fluff balls were still a thing the following year, making their way onto curated gift guides everywhere. Those not Fendi-obsessed would have settled for something like Tuleste’s Pom Pom Earrings, which are giving me major nostalgia! I won a giveaway with Blush around that time, and a pair of the brand’s Pom Pom earrings was included in the gift bag!
