Lace is everywhere for fall, which presents designers with one big problem, just as any trend does: finding a way to reinterpret it in a way that stands out. Someone at CC Skye had some some sort of epiphany when designing the CC Skye Rough Romance Frankie Satchel, though, and that makes it one of fall’s best lace handbags.

The secret, of course, is leather. Leather may not seem all that interesting, in the context of handbags at least, but making lace out of it is a time-consuming, careful process that usually only huge brands undertake. Trust me, it involves lasers. It’s very complicated. And expensive! But here, you can get it at a contemporary price point.

I last saw this type and amount of leather lace on a Valentino bag that retailed for several times what CC Skye is charging, and although this bag is on the high end of the brand’s usual price point, I think there’s probably enough work here to justify it. If only the designer had gone with silver instead of gold hardware, I would have been completely on board. Buy through Nordstrom for $725.

Soft and romantic. I agree that silver hardware perhaps would be a better choice here. Overall, a very good impression. Great price, too.

Oh! I’m surprised! I like this! The lace detailing is very nice!

laser cutting isn’t really that expensive or even that complicated. i doubt that is why it isn’t that prevalent in bags. i’m sure it’s just aesthetic choices per designer. nevertheless, i like the lace effect, just not the shape of the bag.
